| I stayed at the Solymar for two weeks, March 12-26th. I had no problem w/ this place at all. We heard a few complaints from others, but we had no problems at all. Though we weren't staying through the hotel. We rented a "penthouse". We rented it over the internet. This place consisted of two bedrooms, a kitchen, dinning table and then on the roof a terrace. Oh also it had two bathrooms. The first bedroom had two double beds and a bathroom. Your average hotel room. That one also has a lagoon view. The second, you go up a few stairs and there it is, a room with one king size bed and one double bed. This was ocean view with a balcony. This room also had the kitchen, had everything you needed to cook etc. Fridge with ice trays thank god. Then a small dinning area. Also there is the bathroom is this room as well. Then up a few more stairs and you have the terrace. Amazing. We spent alot of time up there often. That is also a lagoon view. Our service there was great. They were very friendly!!! Mario... you should meet him hes wonderful. I think hes ussually at the front door. If you have any questions at all just e-mail me under my yahoo or hotmail address. |

| We will be staying here june 21-28, 05. It was a great deal, found on line. I am still a bit nervous, even though we have called the hotel, etc. There is only one post about this place. We decided to go with a "smaller" hotel because, living in Florida, I am kinda over the scads of tourists thing... :? Anyone else familiar with this place? is there any swimming or snorkeling of the beach here? Thanks for any info! |

| Not very folks here have reported being at the Solymar lately. What you can do is use the search function near the top of the page. Look for "Solymar" and then find people who have reported staying there and send 'em a PM.

| any updates on the Solymar after Wilma and their restoration process? I know they are done, just wanted to know if anyone has been down there and checked it out? Would like to know! I booked my buddies there last spring break and it was only at about half capacity! Still a lot of work that needed to be done, but I think its likely done by now! Just wondering..............

| Compared to February 2006, just three months after Wilma, the Solymar now is near 100% back to normal. We stayed there for two weeks February 10-24, 2007. Pool area, restaurant, beach bar and lobby area completely restored. In fact, I would say better than before. They have now planted more palm trees around the pool and have created a hammock area on the grounds. The beach bar looks great, more tables & chairs. They have doubled the number of palapas on the beach, providing even more shade to escape from the sun. With the majority of the rooms now booked through private owners, this is a wonderful place to stay. If you return year after year at the same time, you will come to know the same people who also return each year. Plus, with booking through private owner, you are guaranteed the room of your choice and don't have to worry about going through the front desk to check-in/check-out.

| My wife and I went with her family to Solymar in April and stayed in 2 oceanfront condos. We had a great experience. Just make sure you stay in condos from the private owners, not the hotel side. Each condo had a kitchen and a great view of the beach. The staff was nice and we even had free internet access in the condo rental office. There is a website with alot of information on the condo operation if you do a search for CancunCondoDeals on google (all one word with no spaces). This is how we rented our units. |

| I stayed at The Solymar March 7-13 this year, and I loved it.. I didn't do the all inclusive plan though.. I had a private oceanfront balcony, private rooftop terrace, kitchen, two double beds, & bathroom.. It was super nice. I rented from a private owner named Paul. I got to meet him while in Cancun, and he was great.. Even helped me pack my bags to my room... The grounds were beautiful, and not much noise at all... I would stay here again. |
