Default news years at moon

We stayed New Years at Adventurea after the Huricane, we were suppose to be at the Moon, moved us to Adventurea. They had a big New Years Eve party like 2000 people. Food was sit down and they had music . At midnight they had champange, balloons, hats and blowers. It was a very nice party. It was in the convention building. I would think they do the same at Moon Palace.

Regarding the Golf suites, we stayed there this year. It is a long walk to the Sunrise side, over a mile. They do have golf carts going by and picking you up and taking you to the road. Where a lobby to lobby bus will pick up up. We had a baby and stroller and it was very hard to get around. They were able to move us to the Sunrise side.

Am glad to hear they are willing to accomodate in a situation such as that. If it were just the two of you I'll betcha you would have been zipping around in those golf carts, eh?

Michael - You'll love this!! While at Cancun Palace last week, we attended our membership upgrade presentation with the sales gurus... It was funny that they don't do them at the Moon Palace anymore. They told us that they are putting something like 1000 more rooms in at the Moon. They are building in the space between Sunrise and Nizuc where the mini golf is now. The sales guy was very excited to share that information. I told him that it wasn't a good thing!!! It's big enough already!! Between the new Golf Suites and this news, it's getting out of control. $$$$$ Our gem will never be the same.

Default What about the Grand Moon

When we were at the Moon in January, they were talking about the Grand Moon Palace which is next to Nizuc. They were suppose to be all Pres. Suites. I don't think there is much room by the mini golf for 1000 rooms.
You could see the building going on by Nizuc. Moon is so big now, it is not fun there anymore, it is to crowded. Did you get to see Pres. Suites at Cancun Palace. We are going there this winter, instead of Moon Palace.
Glad you had agood time in cancun.

Hi Sandy,

Yes, we did see the Pres Suites at Cancun Palace. They are very nice with font to back balconies. Master bedroom balcony overlooks the ocean and the second bedroom balcony overlooks the lagoon, and they connect wrapping around the side. To be honest, I like the Pres Suites at Moon Palace better. They have a much more homey feel. The CP suites are too sterile looking to me.

Thanks for clarifying the location of the new construction at the Moon. I was going by what the sales guy said. My husband and I both shook our heads when he told us where they would be. We didn't think there was enough space there either.

yeh, for the past 12 months or so peeps have been reporting some construction going on to the south of the Nizuc and that the MP was expanding. I figure that's what this is. 1000 rooms, eh? what are the chances they are trying to attract more conventioners?

Just got back from the MP last night. We bought in after our 2nd year of going there. The construction is coming along fairly rapidly with several buildings already completed. This was the pitch I recieved. The Grand Palace will be opening by the end of Dec. of this year ( I thought NO WAY in hell, until I drove by an access road one evening and witnessed several hundred workers waiting for busses, not to mention they have lights and are working round the clock ). It will be a members only resort with 1600 jacuzzi suites and 300 Presidential suites. The models and drawings I saw looked very nice, but not alot different than the exsisting rooms.

"members only"

Meaning only accessible to time-share owners? That would apply to the suites/rooms only, right? What about the restaurants/clubs/bars/pools?

Now that you mention it, they didn't say if it was going to be completely members only or just the rooms. I will try to find out. To be perfectly honest, the new part doesn't interest me that much. We are more than happy staying at the sunrise just a few short steps to the pool and in the middle of everything else.

we came back from our honeymoon last week,
spent 3 weeks in heaven at the MP and a week on Beale St, TN.
now its back to reality !

Gotta say everything was perfect, the new site there is a new restaurant on the moon grand side which is carribean.
It has only been open a few weeks now as it opened the day before we got there, its really beautiful, quite quiet as its a little out of the way and the food and the service is impeccable.

The people im gonna miss are mostly the bartenders - not because of their job and the drinks and service we got but because we truely got to know them - Rigoberto, Matilde, Alberto and Enrique.
We saw their and learned about their homes, family, life, culture etc and learned some Maya - enough to get by on a daily basis.

We stayed in Nizuc side and we had everything we needed, it was quiet and peaceful, mostly relaxing, and we could join in with the ruckus when we wanted.

The free watersports was great as well as we took whatever we felt like doing just by speaking to the guys near the embarcadero.

We travelled to places like coba and si'an kaan which we will never forget, such an experience.

And we did the same old in the party zone, visiting places like senor frogs, coco bongo, daddy o and daddy rock and the bulldog.

Only bad thing in comparison to times we have gone before is the evenings out as the activities staff (well one guy) didnt really seem to care. We wre alright as we have been before and knew our way around, but you were just left there, he disappeared and if you didnt get back - so be it.

Our room was superb a few steps from the beach, pool, bar and main lobby, also facing the sunrise in the morning which was beautiful.

Saw loads of great wildlife, crocodiles, red raccoons, vultures, a shark, pelicans etc etc the list goes on.

Got a couple of presents as reminders, a king kong shell from Enrique who lives on isla mujeras, a very much loved chivas shirt from Alberto and a bottle of santa clara rompope...mmm trying to make that one last a little :0)

Only other thing i would have love to get as a reminder is from the states, a bottle of everclear but dont think we can get it in the UK even shipped.
Had some of that in a couple of ice drinks (cherry bomb and jungle juice) in the states..

Couldnt fault the hotel, the staff or the amenieties in any way, we will be going back next year (as soon as we have paid off the wedding lol.)

Ive said it before and will say it again i truely love mexico

Is Si'an Kaan one of the tours (not free) offered through Chaza, or did you arrange this through another provider? Could you please please post a TR of your Si'an Kaan excursion in the Cancun Info forum? Recently there've been expressions of interest for that attraction, but few peeps have actually reported details of their experiences.

BTW, congrats on your honeymoon! any pics?

Hey Michael !

I did not see if this was a trip organised through chaza but i think they might,
because at the events place where you get your towels im sure i saw something by the alltournative stuff.

We booked before we got there through a seperate non profit organisation, we did the kayaking, hiking and snorkling thru the reserve.

It was the most amazing thing we have done, you can go d these activities anywhere but rarely can you do it all in one place and experience so much!

I did not know you could do the crocs trip with them until we got to tulum, its a pity as my husband loves crocs - we also took another little trip to crococun off our own backs :0)

The staff really know what they are doing and talking about, they are also along with being very professional are very friendly and we learnt and saw a lot on this one day.

I would love to go back as there is so much more to see, there are other places more tourist oriented where you can see plantlife and wildlife but this one is special as you are right in the heart of one ofthe most beautiful, protected places.

ps ill up some pics in a mo

Felicity, I hope you don't mind but I tweaked the email address you posted for your safety from spambots (they lurk around here, too).

Hate to bump an old topic but I am leaving for the Moon Palace in 2 weeks (and getting married there on the 13th) and was wondering if anyone has been recently? Also I thought someone on this wonderful board must have some kind of suggestions on what not to miss while there. Thanks in advance for any and all comments.

Default Need some help - please!!!

Ok I went to Cancun Palace last summer with some friends and we loved it. Now I am planning a trip with a lot of friends for January/February 2009 and we are looking at the Moon Palace. We have some singles and more couples. Will we have fun there??? We loved the pool bars at Cancun Palace. Are the pool bars fun at Moon Palace? Is there music playing? Games in the pool? Contests? Any help would be greatly appriciated!!!
