We are staying at the Blue Bay Club. Can you take the shuttle to the sister hotel & also eat & drink there for free too? How is the Blue Bay Club? Is it clean? Is the food good? The beach? etc.

Do you have kids?

BBC is a nice hotel that is clean. Small pool area and not much of a beach. Yes you can go to the sister hotel, BBG but it's about a 20 minute trip. BBC is located in old Cancun and is sort of out of the way as far as easy accessibility.

If you have kids but want to be able to join in the BBG fun, it's about your only choice. If you don't have kids, I would suggest a change to BBG.

Check out the BBG Lounge to see if that's what you might want to do.

Yes we have kids. 21, 15, 13, 10 and we are going during spring break or over Easter March 22 - 29. We already have reservations at the BLue Bay Club. SO you can take the shuttle & spend the day at the sister hotel? Eat & drink there for free also because we have an all inclusive package. How is the food? Anything else you can tell me? They would like to swim with the dolphins & my husband would like to deep sea fish. Also thought about the bull fights.
Thank you

First of all, Spring break in Cancun is not a pretty sight. You will notice an elevated level of rowdiness starting with your departing airport. If you do some reading here you will find stories of peoples flights to Cancun being horrible because of the SB's. Luckily, your resort is located downtown and away from the party zone.

Is your 21 year old going to stay at the resort and watch your younger kids? You have to be 21 and over to go to the Getaway.

Do a SEARCH for info on the bullfights. You can decide for yourself if your children are ready for it. Yes, the bull dies an a very bloody way.

I am concerned about the food in Cancun. My kids are very picky. How is the food at this hotel. What kind of hotel would you compare this too in the US for example a Holiday Inn, SUper 8 or a Mariott?

As far as the Dolphins go, there is a very good one called the Doplhin Experience out on Ilsa Majures that everyone raves about.

Very picky eaters have problems no matter where they go, Cancun or Chicago. So although I would consider the food good, others may have problems. So the answer really is, it depends.

As far as the hotel... more like a regular Marriott rather than a Marriott Courtyard. Not the upscale Marroitts resorts, just a regular one.

Personally, I wouldn't compare BBC to a Marriott because the Marriotts have a higher standard of food quality & consistancy. They have a MUCH larger food budget than BBC an it's evident in not only the type of food you can get at a Marriott, but also the quality.

I would compare it more to a Holiday Inn........& not a crowne plaza holiday inn either...a regular one.

If your kids are picky eaters, it proly won't matter where you stay in Cancun, they proly won't care for much of the Mexican dishes. They might start to get a bit cranky after a few days an want something American. The good news is that there are ALOT of American franchise places in Cancun. So if your kids have food issues at BBC, you can at least get them a meal that they won't bitch about in the hotel zone.

Stuff like Rainforest Cafe, TGIFridays, Margaritaville, Hooters, Outback Steakhouse, Subway, Johnny Rockets, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Dominos Pizza, Ruth's Chris, Philly Cheese Steak,etc.....

Jus my 2 pesos worth!

Default bbc

I just came back from the bbc in feb.. I am 30 and my x(b/f) is 26... we wanted a nice vacation, relaxing, but still fun...
when we first pulled up to the bbc I knew right away the place wasnt for us.... I looked outside to this small pool, hoping there was another one... but No luck ... tiny bars with only a few bar seats .... beach was horrible  .... The food was horrible :chuck: ... most of the buffets they had out, all the food was cold. I didnt eat at the "specialty restuarants" so i cant comment on them...
Insted we took the shuttle bus everyday to the bbg, thank god for that place! We met a bunch of great people, there were alot of activities during the day at the pool... the pool's are beautiful also at the bbg. The Food was amazing, the staff was wonderful...
We dreded each nite having to come back to bbc. But we made the best of it... in the end extended our trip so we could stay at the bbg for a few days... and it was amazing,,, the rooms were beautiful with great views...compared to our view at teh bbc which was a dirty garbage filled parkinglot. Also our room at the bbc, the shower drain did not work so when we took a shower our floor was a huge puddle... after a few days the smell was unbearable. :bawl:
Ive heard some people like this place, just wasnt for us!
BBG all the way!!

Default Buses

I'm staying at the BBC and wondered about the schedule of the shuttle to the BBG as well as the access to public buses at the BBC?

The shuttles run back and forth during the day on a fairly regular schedule.

But the last one going back to BBC from BBG is at 9:30PM so if you plan on staying later you will have to take a taxi back.

Thanx Karan,

Is ther easy access to the public bus line at the BBC? From what I have read, they run 24/7.

Adios

Unfortuantely, the buses don't run out to BBC...so it's either the BB bus or a taxi.

Default BBC - Bus/Shuttles

There isn't the normal bus tha runs to BBC but there are some other shuttle type vans that run past there. If you are OK with riding with the locals in these small vans then you can use them. It is best to ask some of the staff at BBC about the vans that go by. My family has used them before and they are an experience, but fun. If you were traveling in the evening though, I would suggest a Taxi, mostly just for the ease of knowing where you are going.

This place is charming and the staff is wonderful. If you are looking for a lot of excitement, this may not be the place for you. I have stayed here twice and would go back, except I am a timeshare owner and by the time I pay the exchange fee, book my own flight and pay the per diem all-inclusive, it is really a better deal for me to search different hotels and their all-inclusive plans. We will be going to LeBlanc in February - will be our 8th trip to Cancun - Blue Bay is a lovely spot - don't hesitate in going there for relaxation and attentive service....

Seventh trip to Mexico is in five weeks and this will be the 6th stay at Blue Bay Club. It's not a 5 star resort and it's not party central. What it is though, is clean, economical, friendly, family, and Mexico. A lot of the mega resorts I've looked at could be anywhere. You get no flavor for the country you are in. The entire hotel zone is like that for the most part.

People complain about the beach at the Blue Bay Club. It is calm, warm, and the seaweed is raked up daily, but still a ittle in the water. Never a red flag, and the kids are safe. Plenty of sand for soaking up sun, plus the huge sundeck near the pool. And the new pool and jacuzzi's are a nice improvement.

People complain about the food. The food is more than adequate, but not gourmet. Plenty of variety and always something for the kids to eat. A short trip into the city for authentic Mexican food.

Shopping is only a short ride away as well with prices in the city less than half of what they are in the Hotel Zone.

If you are looking for party time, it's not here. If you are looking for a nice vacation, this is it.

Not really.

Many times they will move you to BBG if they have room but you have to pay the difference in the cost.

BBG is more expensive than BBC.

And many times they won't transfer you at all.

Jakif...as you have read, the BBC is a good family place. I went for the first time, alone, last year. I like to drink and have a good time and I was able to do that there. There were quite a few partiers there that went because the BBC is less expensive than BBG. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. I spent alot of time on the deck, just laying in the sun. I also took the shuttle to BBG, went to XCaret, and went to the dinner shows that are offered. Again, I went alone so I was a bit hesitant to get too far away, but since I am going back to the same place again this year, you have to realize that it's a good value. And, there weren't that many kids there to disrupt my peaceful drinking time !

We just returned from a two week vacation at the BBC and it was very nice. Although the air conditioning was down in the lobby bar and dining room. We would just take the free shuttle bus to the BBG which had air conditioning and a better selection of food. The shuttle operates until about 10 at the BBC and 10:30 at the BBG. There is a city bus, the R13 which will take you to Walmart but sometimes operates inconsistantly. If you use it to get to Walmart you can take the R2 or R15 to get you to the BBG where you can take the free shuttle back to the BBC.
When you arrive at the BBC they will try to get you to go to a welcome breakfast where you will get the hard sell time share pitch. We were warned by other guests and never attended it. They will tell you it's not a time share pitch but it is.
We signed up to go deep sea fishing and paid $150 for me to fish and my wife to go along for just the ride. Roberto told me that it was a 28 foot boat which had bathroom facilities. It was not 28 ft. and had no facilities. A couple from Paris became very sea sick and we had to return to port. Saul did arrange for me to go for free the following Friday but we never left the bay and we caught 11 barricuda. It wasn't deep sea fishing and could not compare to Acapulco deep sea fishing.
All things considered we had a beautiful vacation but left the BBC in the early afternoon and went on day trips or hung around the BBG where the food selection was much better. I think the rooms are better at the BBC and the atmosphere and food are better at the BBG.

I forgot to mention a couple other things about the BBC. They have no internet service. The BBG does but it's $5 for 30 minutes. A better solution is to go to Walmart where you can get 30 minutes for 80 cents.
When you arrive you will receive 3 fine dining coupons for each week you stay. If you take some other guests to dinner as your guests and they in turn take you as their guests and you can maximize your fine dining. Also you will have to get to the front desk at 8:30 am to assure your reservation they go fast. Our favorite was the sea food restaurant at the BBG. The Oysters at the BBC does have a cool little light show when you order the flamming coffee though and the food is good.
Also bring or buy some large insulated mugs. They give you a 2 cup coffee pot in your room and with the mugs you will find a nice coffee, capichino machine on the landing between the dining room and the lobby where you can fill your mugs and only make one trip in the morning.
Have fun, the staff at both hotels are great and will bend over backwards to insure you enjoy your stay.

Adios,

What about the new pool? As nice as the pics posted? Last year they had internet, across from the reception desk...is that gone? (Was hoping to send pics back to the poor souls still at work). I was there last year & never got a time-share pitch. I think they only give it to couples/families. Is the ferry still near the beach or were they able to get it out? I'm glad you had a good time. I guess it's what you are going for. Fun, partying at BBG, relaxation at BBC.

Hey Peg,
They didin't have internet service when we were there. The Cozumel Car ferry is still beached just north of the hotel. The air conditioning in lobby bar and dining room were not fuctioning but you can still go to the BBG when it gets hot. One night when we were going to eat at the seafood restaurant all the power went out and a couple next to us said their room had been robbed at the BBG. We paid $2 a day for a room safe at the BBC and nothing was missing for the two weeks we were there. We always leave a tip for the person who cleans our room and are room was spotless and they even left notes thanking us and turned the towels into Swans and elephants. As I said before the staff are wonderful. You have to forgive the lack of air conditioning as the hurricane did a great deal of damage and they are working hard to rapair the damages. You will have fun as the weather is beautiful and the area has much to offer. We did have fun and enjoyed our vacation there and you will too. The pool was great but looses sun after about 3 pm so mornings and early afternoon is the time to be there.

BBC is quite a ways from the clubs.

There's no bus that runs out there so you'll have to take a taxi.

I'd say it is a good 20 minutes by taxi at least to the clubs..maybe a bit longer if you hit traffic.

The wrist bands don't chnage from year to year.

If you are a first timer you get blue...reater gets silver and timeshare gets gol or red depending on where you purchased your timeshare.

You can't get an extra anywhere.....if you lose yours they charge you $50.

BBC is quite a ways from the clubs and bars and it's tough to sneak someone in.

I really wouldn't try it because either you or the person with you will have to pay a for the taxi ride back to wher they are staying.

The buses don't run out to BBC.
