| Afternoon all from a windy, cold, wet Hull - England! I and 10 other are coming to cancun for the second year running! we are due to arrive on the 26th Februry and stayin for 3 weeks! We are staying at the Gran Costa Real after been moved from the Oasis Playa due to the hurricane damage still not fixed. we were gutted to hear this however we are slowly growing on the idea of stayin at this new hotel. We all dont really know much about this hotel and even weather this hotel is gonna be good for spring breakers? I would be great if someone could let me know what its like if they have spent time at this hotel, especially over spring break! See you soon Cancun! Mark, England! |

| Just got back from a week staying at the Gran Costa Real, we had a great week, weather was kind of windy at first but then it was beautiful. This is a great hotel, very central. We went downtown most of the evenings and had a fabulous time. Went to Cozumel and Isla Mujeres (again), cute island. I love Cancun and am already planning to return in May. If you have any questions, just ask. There are plenty of people from all different age groups so anyone would fit in. The beach is great and there is so much to do around the area. I loved the hotel and its location. Make time to eat in Maria's Restaurant, all the food in all the restaurants is great, fantastic selection.

| Well there is always entertainment going on all through the day and evening. The bar staff outside in the beach bar are alot of fun probably because they can watch everyone get drunk on a daily basis!! It is so much fun, they have volleyball on the beach and games etc at the pool during the day, there is diving if you want and the boat is next door to the right to go on the Isla Mujeres tour, they also have a boat where you can put a bubble on your head and it has a motor so you are standing and you dive, the pirate ship is also next door. In the evening you can go to the entertainment around the pool and then in the bar there is a group every night, it is alot of fun. Some people just hang out on the beach till the wee hours and have fun. Really there is alot to do in the hotel so you don't need to spend extra money doing outside things. Tours can really add up, the ski doo's are $45 for a half hour but they are fun, but expensive. So if you don't have alot of extra cash I would hang around the hotel or go to one of the bar's that are truly hopping until 3-4-5 in the morning. I am sure there will be some very willing guys to treat you to a few drinks!! Have fun and let me know if you have any other questions. Jane

| Well the rooms are great, our maid was fantastic, she left us candy everyday. You should get a safe to put your valuables in and be careful with the key. If you don't like the room they first give you ask if you can be changed to a different room. This is a very nice hotel, as for the destruction around Cancun, well you can see a few hotels still not open, not many now, work is still in progress in some areas, bars etc. But on the whole you wouldn't really know anything catastrophic went through there, they have done a remarkable job of cleaning up and planting and it seems renovating as they go along. I think more and more people are going back on a weekly basis now and Spring Break should be as full and fun as ever. When are you going?

| I just went back and read what you asked about games, well yes they are toned down of course, if you want games not toned down go to the blue bay getaway, you will hear all and see all. It is alot of fun there, I would love to go there and join in the fun. Maybe later this year I will book to go there, I walked down the beach and checked it out, everyone was having an absolute blast. I think at Spring Break everywhere you go will be great fun. I think you will thoroughly enjoy yourself at Gran Costa Real, some people call it Costa Real, same hotel. There were a few comments from people going and they sound like alot of fun, if any of them are going the same time as you, contact them. When are you going? Sorry I just asked that. Jane

| I am going march 7th to the 14th. Been to cancun before 3 times already... Was kinda keen on staying at this hotel cause of the location. Seems close to everythign. What is like close walking distance near the hotel? And are the beaches ok? And as you said I wouldn't be able to tell they are doing contrustion? Does the hotel look like it's in contrustion mode? Sorry for all the question..

| The beach is fine, everyday the chairs are put out either in the sun or under the palapas and you can sunbathe on the beach or around the pool. Walking distance, well you can walk all along the beach, you could walk downtown but it is quite a long walk maybe 2 miles. What are you looking for?

| Well let me think there is a bar La Boom across the street but it wasn't open but I bet it will be by March. The XOXO store wasn't close as far as I can remember. We rented a car and so it is hard for me to picture what is so close to the hotel. We actually don't frequent the tourist areas, having a Mexican fiance here, I went to the downtown areas where the locals went. The bus makes it so easy to get around though and taxis are all lined up out front of the hotel. Now that is a plus, you walk out the door and there is a line of taxis, that's why I say this hotel is so great because there is everything there. We stayed in the hotel zone before up the other end and it wasn't so convenient. I think you will love it there. Where are you from - Canada?

| Well you will certainly enjoy the warm weather. It is in the low 80's most days. As I said a taxi is right outside the door so you won't have any problem with transportation. Have a wonderful time. Jane

| I don't have any digital pictures but a guy posted some on the 1st or 2nd page of this and his were identical, they could have been taken right now, everything is exactly the same. The hotel is in perfect condition, all the work has been finished. Actually this hotel was used as a shelter during the storm so it is a strong hotel and only had minimal damage. The beach is all cleaned up, really the hardest hit areas were the hotel zone further up. Of course the bar across the street was hit hard too but the hotel is fine, you honestly wouldn't know that there was a problem.

| We will be at the Gran Costa Real 8 May-22 May! This will be our sixth stay at this hotel, so obviously we love it there! The beach is very nice, but small. It is on the bay side, so there are no crashing waves. They have a decent gym there. I always have good intentions of using it but somehow all the drinking gets in the way  ! The staff there is excellent! We've made many very good friends with a lot of the people who work there. The food is very good, but I get tired of it after two weeks, so we eat out occasionally. The drinks are strong, not watered down at all. The hotel is beautiful! 73 days and counting..... |

| The yellow wristbands are for first timers. The black ones are for repeat guests. Last trip I saw some orange wrist bands...not sure what those are. Someone thought it was for EP. Hope this helps! donna 53 days and counting..... |
