| I stayed at the Riu Cancun from March 19-26, I am a Travel Agent and have heard many good things about this hotel and they are true, I have been to Cancun 4 times and have stayed at the Royal Solaras, Oasis, El pueblito, and the Miramar Mision, the Riu was the best hotel that i have stayed at so far. Beach: the beach was very nice but there were a few rocks that probaly arose due to the hurricane, Lets say i would be a bit scared to body surf and get thrown into one of the rocks but other wise the setup was very nice. Pools- the pools are awesome there are numerous infinity pools that are just the perfect temperature Hotel- the hotel is very elegant, there have a few very nice cathedral ceilings, the grounds are very well kept, the only complaint was that the beds were hard but that didnt really matter to me because i slept out on the balcony every night. The mini bar in the room is very convienant but when there is a bar open 24-7 who needs a minibar, although we poured a shot of tequila out of the dispensor in the room and didnt drink it because it smelled like a mix between rubbing alcohol and peroxide. Restaurants-The restaurants are excellant although we did not try the brazilian restaurant because we heard the meat was a little dry and you know how i am with my dry meat, the japanese restaurant was very good although the service was a little slow, The Don Juan Buffet was the biggest and most wide ranged assortment of food that i have ever encountered. From a whole salmon to pick from to hamburguesas to pasta to fresh meat and shell fish such as mussels and everything you could possibly dream of consuming they it. lets just say we ate their the most. The steak house La Mission was also very good at dinner they would cook you a steak to order or shishkabob or chicken or sausage and even a ton fish. Bars- the service at the bars was great, at many of the other resorts that i have stayed at they would look away if you didnt have a tip in hand but here you get just as good of service if you did or didnt have a tip for them although i always tip, the bar named el faro is the best bar i thought it is outside of the main lobby and i became good friends with a bartender named Elias he will take care of you he works from mon -sat from 9-6 if you go this bar and see him ask him to tell you the story about his friend matt believe me it will be a good one, ne way we took a ride with him around downtown cancun and he showed us the poverty and just how sadly these people have to live he will go above and beyond his job to make you a drink just ask him to try Purple Drank tell him i told ya so, all the bars are great but he made my trip All in all the Riu Cancun was a 5 star hotel and is worth it all day long i will advise any of my clients who would like to travel to Cancun to try this hotel with no hesitation.

| We stayed at the RIU Cancun from March 19 - 26 as well, and had an awesome time. This is a GREAT resort and by far, the best we've stayed at in Cancun......we've been there 9 times! We agree with everything Matt had to say and would like to add that the staff are exceptionally accomodating and oh so friendly. We hit up the shows most every night and found them very entertaining. We cannot wait to go back next year!! Kamikaze shots all round!!! |

| We also have a Riu dedicated forum over at RiuChat.info, heres the link: http://www.riuchat.info/forum/index.php It is a little quiet on posts but there are at least 50 people a day visiting, so I guess they just need something to talk about! |

| Are there floors in the resort/annex that we should avoid? Same question for the rooms, are they all the same anyways? Are we allowed to call the hotel ourselves and book our room, or do we have to wait till we get there and do it at the front desk? Or is it best to call our travel agent and have her call Sunquest? I want the best view! |

| Hi! We've stayed at RIU Caribe once and RIU Cancun twice. It's obvious that we prefer RIU Cancun overall and it has a better location. We thought the junior suite in the Annex to be the best location at RIU Cancun. We were on the 4th floor and had a terrific view of the activity pool, beach, and sea. The annex puts you closer to the water than the high rise and is right next to the disco. We thought it was worth the extra money for the junior suite (but not a necessity - the regular rooms are nice, too!) The junior suite is just like the rest of the rooms except that after the beds you step down a couple of stairs into another room with a sofa and T.V. and then out to the balcony. The sofa would make into another pull out bed if needed. We enjoyed the extra space. Enjoy RIU Cancun! We would stay there again in a heartbeat - had soooo much fun! Terrific entertainment staff. | Just got back from the Riu-Cancun! And wish I was still there! It is a very nice and clean place! The staff are always friendly, and helpful. Pools are nice the beaches are awesome! But there are quite a few rocks once you get out a little ways, so watch out for those. Quite a few fish as well right out from the hotel, so make good use of the snorkel equipment, but you only get it for one hour! I would NOT recommend this place to spring breakers or any group of guys/girls looking to get lucky. 95% of the people were couples. It is a very romantic place to take your other half, but not a place to hook up with someone! The only two things I didn't like about the place is, all of the darn door slamming from people not closing their balcony doors and closing the main door without holding it! Every 10 minutes BANG... BANG... Very annoying! And second the food is not all that good! Every thing tastes the same! The first few days isn't too bad, but it gets really sickening after a while! So we just crossed the road and ate at Subway, a little pricey but at least the food stayed in you for more than a half hour !And expect to tip every so often at all the bars there. It's not required, but they will remember you next time you are there and help other people first. So either get two at a time or tip say every two or three drinks and is should get you buy! The one thing I really enjoyed about the hotel is LOCATION! Can't get any better! Everything is within a quick walk, from all the dance clubs (The City, Dady O's, Coco Bongo, Carlos and Charlies, Hard Rock Café, Senor Frogs, The Bulldog, Dady rock and so on). And places to eat like Hooters/TGI Fridays and the shops they're everywhere. I would recommend shopping in the mall instead of the shops outside. They really hassle you every single time! "hey man, check out my store, I got what you need." I heard that at least a 1000 times in a matter of 7 days... Oh and the prices for the Party Hopper are $55 usd, that was the best I could do. I got that price at the mall right across the street from the hotel! The Jungle Tour, we got that for $25 plus 5 dollar deposit. So always talk the people down as much as you can. Just like buying a car, if they don't take the price you offer walk away and they'll change their mind and give it to you! And yes they do have some wine at certain bars... |

| Hola We stayed at the Riu Cancun last may 06 and enjoyed it so much we are heading back again in may 07. I can never understand it when people say they get bored of the food after a few days, are you guys for real. The Don Juan restaurant has many serving stations with lots of different food and "tastes". Even though they had a couple of speciality restaurants, we found the Don Juan restaurant had everything we wanted. Our favourite section was the meat carving station, where they had a roast on every night. They had different roasts of beef and pork and our favourite was the roast sirloin joint which was cut to the thickness we wanted. Most nights had a different theme, from Asian to Mexican. We loved the food and found something to our tastes every day, even when we were there for two weeks. The only thing that was a little bland was the sweets but the wonderful ice-cream more than made up for it. Just go with a open mind and try different things and you’ll be fine. Enjoy Daz. |

| Me and a girlfriend stayed there for 2 weeks at the end of November... amaaaazing time!! Especially the Animacion staff, it's insane how much work they do to make your stay better. If you want more details on what it was like feel free to e-mail me. But I would highly recommend the Riu Cancun to ANYONE (singles, couples, retirees, families). |

| For those who have stayed at the Riu Cancun, would you opt for the standard Ocean View room or upgrade a bit to the Junior Suite? The difference is only about $400 for a seven-night stay. Besides space, what is better about the Junior Suites. Also, are there any floors you want to avoid? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. |

| a junior suite isnt really worth the money although they are a little bigger. Aviod the 2nd floor of the 15 story tower. The 2nd floor rooms have gotten broken into then when you walk in and someone is in your room they run out the balconies door and jump onto the roof of the 2 story junior suite building and then they dissappear into lala land. I know this for fact and im sure others have heard this before. The Riu Cancun is my favorite hotel in Cancun and I have stayed there the last 2 times i was in Cancun.

| Can't wait to come to Riu again...Staying 4/6-4/13. Jayhawk, I would avoid the 5th floor of the annex....although almost every single room in this resort affords beautiful views, the 5th floor annex has a large ledge that might obscure your view somewhat. I've been staying here for a few years and have always had good experiences with the Annex building.

| Its a beautiful resort, i've only been once, but i would go back in a heart beat. If your staying in the main bldg, make sure your at least 4 floors and up. You get a much better view. There was 3 of us to a room in the main bldg and we though it was plenty big... its not like your there much anyway. |

| Can anyone tell me how the beach is at the Riu Cancun.. thinking about booking, but want to make sure the big is great. Also, so they have activities going on at the pool during the day at least? Anything anyone else can tell me would be much appreciated! Thanks

| The beach is Great! Have to hit it early though. The main building starts to block the sun at around 4pm (between March and June at least). The building shadow affects the pools moreso than the beach. There are a few pools one quiet, one pool bar pool, and then the activity pool. The activity people at the pools during the daytime are great and get everyone involved.
