Hey all, was wondering who everyone used to book their hotels with? It appears that out of Canada, only Sunquest books Riu Cancun....
Can anyone confirm this?

I know that we booked the Riu Caribe with Signature so it's possible that they would also do the Riu Cancun.

Will be there 3rd week of march. Does anyone know if they still use the beige color wristbands or have they changed them? My friend that went with us last year wants to hang out at our hotel since he is staying elsewhere and still has the wristband from last year. Thinking they have changed them, but just want to get confirmation. Thanks and see you all in Cancun!

Default Any answers?

Hello all... so excited.. just booked a trip to the Riu Cancun yesterday for myself and my 18 year old son and friend of his.

Can anyone tell me how the beaches are here nowadays? Also, are there activities going on at the pool.. such as tequila volleyball and the like? I enjoy the activities as I will be going alone with the teens and would like an active resort so I can hopefully make a few friends while I am there..

Anything specific I should know?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Kat

Hey Kat!

There are many things to do at the Riu cancun. One pool, the so called "poolbar" is great fun in the afternoon because everyone is enjoying life en drinking cocktails there. Always friendly people around.

There's also another pool where sports activities take place each day. Like waterpolo, watervolleyball and stuff like that. On the beach is a place to volleybal as well which is really nice. The beach isn't big, but big enough to relax / walk on. One negative thing is that there aren't that many beachchairs around. If you want some, you should wake up earlie and drop your towel on some of them. It ain't a friendly way, but everyone is doing it and it's the only way of getting a good beachchair in the afternoon. BUT: This might be improved, last time I been there was in august last year. For the rest it's free to go kayakking, snorkling, sailing (little catamaran, really easy to do) and stuff like that. I am sure you will enjoy. What period will you be going?

Have fun!

Hello.... I just returned from the Rui yesterday, there are still tears in my eyes ... We had a great time. The resort it beautiful, food was great Fernando at the pool bar it outstanding, as well as Jesus in the Show Room Bar... HAPPY HOUR ALL DAY LONG...... The beach is small along the resort where the pools are but then gets larger on the far left side. Plenty of loungers but the other poster was correct. Lots of people get their towels early and reserve there chair, which most people respect. You will have a wonderful time. It is very clean, the help is pleasant, and very helpful. We met severly great people, you will have a great time.

Default RIU Bars

My wife and I are going to be here around the 4th of July. Are the drinks included in the sports bar and nightclub at the RIU? What about at the other RIU properties nearby? We are looking forward to hanging out at the pool.

Yes all the drinks are included throughout the propery. We did not visit any of the other Rui's. You will have a great time. We took about $5 a day for tips for the bartenders and we never waited, they would see us come up and the would be mixing our drinks. Make sure you check out the shows that are in the lounge everynight. We had a bartender at the far end of the lounge, he was the best.

Hope you have a great time.

Default Rooms

Thanks for the information Kylee. We will be sure to check out the show and the bars. It sounds like you had a great trip.

Do you or anyone know about the rooms. Are they all Double beds. I didn't see an option of requesting a King?

They have two double beds pushed together. Its bigger than a King. Plenty of room.

We are going to be there this Saturday (4th of July) Anyone else on this board going to be there next week? After reading several of the posts, it sounds like a great place. Is the water in the Swim up Bar area really that bad?

Heading back over to the Riu Cancun in May for a 2 week break. Missed the last couple of years and its right what they say. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, can't wait.

Pretty much the same beer!

I will go to cancun for the 5th time this summer (august) but now we're gonna stay at the Riu Palace las americas which is right next to the riu cancun. Not that the riu cancun is bad, but it's something else and I will spend most of the time at the pool located at the riu cancun anyway Looking forward AGAIN!

Default Recent reports

Has anyone stayed at this hotel recently that can post a review? Still looking my most likely option at present when i visit in December 2010. Is it still a fairly young crowd?

Can anyone say what the niteclub on site is like? Do many residents bother with it?

Also I will be room sharing with afriend. Do you or can you get seperate bedrooms within the same appartment so to speak?

Hey we stayed there a few months back really enjoyed it lot of american school graduates started arriving our second week and they added to the fun its a really mixed hotel as far as age goes young, old middle aged all here and everybody just seemed to fit in.

niteclub on site was fairly busy most nights music a bit loud but other than that plenty good music to keep you happy.

most bedrooms are the same single beds or doubles then thats about it there are interconnecting rooms but they will be classed as two rooms I would imagine.

enjoy.......we sure did.

I have never stayed here myself, but the pictures look like its a pretty awesome hotel! I also looked at some reviews on various different sites and it rates really high. I find some really good pictures of the hotel here! I would love to go? Can anyone tell me the best time of year to visit! Spring break would be amazing I think!
