Default Melia Turquesa

Hello, I have just returned from Cancun last night. My husband and I were there for 4 nights...(not long enough ops: ). We really enjoyed it there. Beautiful hotel, friendly staff...food was O.K., but I guess when you drink enough you don't pay much attention the the food anyway. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I think Cancun is a beautiful place to be, so I really don't think it matters what hotel you stay at!! :-|

Default Does anyone have an new information about Beach Palace?

I've been to Beach Palace about a dozen times over the years and I haven't been able to get a handle on just what the future holds for this great hotel. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Default It's UGLY!

I got the answer to my own question last night. And, I don't like the answer. Family members were in Cancun last week and shot extensive video of the Beach Palace, and it is totaled. The severity of the damage to the ocean-side of the hotel indicates to me that the hotel needs to be torn down and rebuilt. There is absolutely NO beach in that area. In fact, the entire concrete breakwall bearing the Beach Palace nameplate has been reduced to rubble. It is so sad. Hopefully Palace Resorts will be able to get going quickly on the rebuilding process.

Default December 2006 Projected Opening

I just spoke with someone in the Palace Resorts organization. I was told that Beach Palace would not be totally torn down, but would be completely gutted and rebuilt. Projected reopening is December 2006.

It was a nice little resort (little compared to the Palace monsters further down the RM) but I'll betcha Palace resorts was looking for an excuse to revamp and "upgrade" the place. Let's see how they do...

Default I agree

Michael,
I totally agree. It needed a complete overhaul. The small size, proximity to some great clubs/restaurants, and fantastic staff made the Beach Palace one of the best in Cancun for me and my family. I do believe it will be great once it's complete.

Default New Beach Palace to resemble Vallarta Palace

I just returned from a week at the Vallarta Palace in Nuevo Vallarta. After speaking several times with the PR staff, I learned that the newly rebuilt Beach Palace will closely resemble the Vallarta Palace. I was also told that the Cancun Palace will take on Vallarta Palace characteristics as well. I can't wait to see both properties upon completion.

It is completely torn down. The only sign of it is the sign out by the street.

Default At Beach Palace Site Yesterday

I spent an hour at the Beach Palace site yesterday and took many pictures and video. I spoke with the general contractor who seriously assured me that the new Beach Palace WOULD be ready to go for December. As of yesterday, the foundation was poured and about 20 steel beams were in place. I don't know how they'll pull it off by December, but it does sound like they are confident. If you want me to post a few of my photos, let me know. Also, if you are interested in any of the whereabouts of some of the old-time Beach Palace employees, let me know.

Default Beach Palace Construction Photos - June 14, 2006

I took these photos on June 14, 2006. More than 35 people were working feverishly. I was told by the construction supervisor that the property would be up and running by December.

OMG. That seems almost impossible...especially when they are building this through the current hurricane season. All it takes is one tropical storm to set you back a while.

I agree Michael F. It will be a miracle if they make it through the hurricane season with no major set backs. They are however, very determined to finish it by December.

For crying out loud, they still have a pile driver on the site!

It doesn't look like they are going to be close to finishing by December. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't make any reservations there until they were a whole lot further along that thaey are.

I just returned from Cancun & went to see the Beach Palace. All the steel is in place. It looks like they have run the duct work. They were digging out the pool on thursday & a truckload of jacuzzi tubs were being delivered. It looks like maybe 3 more months, just a guess. Don't know about December 24th opening like they say. It should be close. I will post pictures.

I just returned from Cancun and took photos of the Beach Palace. It's still only a shell of a building and there is no way they will be done by April. The beach itself is still fabulous, but the sand is different than pre-Wilma. The sand has lots of little tiny shells in it now. Not so soft for walking. But the water is still the same turquoise color. We stayed at the Golden Parnassus which was 2 doors down from the Cancun Palace. That hotel is much further along and I believe it will be open by February. I would be happy to answer any questions. I don't know how to post pictures to this site, but you can e-mail me at hoppermail@aol.com and I will send you pictures of the Beach Palace. Enjoy!

Default Beach palace

Thank you for your update on the Beach Palace. Wow, you say the beach has many small shells? Is the sand as soft or can you see and feel the shells when you walk. We are arriving at the Cancun Palace on March 29th for a week of fun in the sun. I will e-mail you to see the pictures you have of the Beach and Cancun Palace Resorts. Thanks.
