In February they had all the exercise classes. The tiki bar is the place as there is not much not life at the resort after the early evening. We have been there three times and only been to one show. It is hard to leave the tiki bar. I would check under Trip Advisor for others that are going. The hot tub (luke warm tub) is fun and I have seen everything from a jolly good time to just chatting. You will love the serivce and the variety of different ages that are there. Please post a short note upon your return. Send me a PM and I can provide a few hot tub pictures, for your eyes only.

I have been to a few of the shows, some are fun some are dumb. Most of the time I should have stayed at the tiki bar also. Sometimes the Beer garden is fun but not always, like vaction said depends on the time of the day. Late mornings and early afternoons are mostly for sunning and drinking of course. lol My friend Roger loves to play the tequlia volleyball. lt can get crazy.

We've been there a half dozen times. The shows are all pretty weak, and we never go anymore. Great place to meet people. You will have a blast. Go to the bars with the entertainment staff.

Great advice and will do! Sorry to ask so many questions but I'm sure others will read this as well and have their questions answered. Can you snorkel at the beach there?

No, i've never seen anyone snorkel there. The wave action is pretty fierce usually. The golden used to have the best stretch of beach of anyone in Cancun. Sadly, the beach has eroded sooooo much since 2005. It comes and goes now, but there is hardly even room for beach volleyball, in fact there wasn't in december. We love beach volleyball, so we would go down to the Great Parnassus, the Golden's sister hotel, and play beach volleyball there. Snorkeling is better down by club med, down on the end of the seven. You can swim in the ocean, but the waves are usually rough, but we love the waves! You can book a snorkel trip though. We are taking diving lessons right now actually, and we are going to Playa in Oct. to dive there and in Cozumel. Then in december we are back at the Golden for a week.

I'm hoping for a decently fun crowd while we are there. I'm sure for the most part people who are looking for an adults only place in Cancun are somewhat like minded. Every 6 months we take some kind of vacation at an adults only place so eventually I'm sure we can work something out.

Had a great time I loved the bus to and from town. Found a fantastic restaurant behind the aquarium in La Isla. Most of the food at the resort was great. Got a free room upgrade just by asking nicely. had a blast at the bar. The place was maybe 30-40% full. I got back at 2am so thats all i'm capable of right now. But a fun resort in a fun town.

| How does GP compare to RIU Cancun? We are booked at RIU for a few days but after reading about GP, we are thinking about changing. Has anyone stayed at both. We are looking for a place with Fun People, good drinks and a nice beach. She likes the freedom of being topless. We also like a comfortable bed which I hear RIU doesn't have. Any suggestions. Does the location of RIU make it better to be able to walk to shopping and the Clubs. The rates are about the same so that doesn't matter. We would just appreciate your thoughts. There are no right or wrong answers. Thanks

The Riu Cancun is much nicer than the GP. Walking distance is nice, but a 5 minute bus ride gets you there from the Golden. The selling point for us is the adults only aspect, as I like to go topless without children around. Both are good....you can't go wrong either way. By the way, nearly all the beds in Cancun are rock hard. Something we've gotten used to over the years.

The beach line is EXTREMELY rocky and devastated thanks to hurricanes.... but they are working on it. HOWEVEr.... u can go to the sister resort for free..... Great Parnassus..... with free hourly shuttle. You just get a pass from the front desk. The beach at Great parnassus is wayyyy better.... and the restaurants are great! However, there are kids..... but there is an adult pool which is high up in the hotel and has a great view. It's topless. I just wore my thong the whole time with a towel when i walked through the hotel. And even though there are kids at the hotel and you cant be topless by the main pool..... right down the stairs on the beach is public property and you can be topless there as well. It's a great other property..... but it's more per night. And we are addicted to Gamaliel at the golden parnassus..... in the buffet that overlooks the pool.... he is awesome! We love the golden!

I've never heard anyone say that the Great's beach was better than the Golden. In december, the Goldens was much better as usual. The Greats is full of huge slab rocks. Now I will admit that the Goldens beach was the worst we have seen it since Wilma devestated it, but the water is still better to swim in. At least usually. I've also never seen the Great more expensive than the Golden. Love the cleavage shot hammie! lol
