DAve T,

Thanks so much for the reports, I am so glad for you!

Maybe I messed up by transferring to Sun Palace. I was actually a real b..... about ti with them, but I just didn't know what kind of condition it was going to be in.

I will definitely check it out the frist day there and maybe transfer back. I have never been to Sun and I know it has been totally redone also and the trip reports say it is awesome, so I guess I will compare the 2 and stay at the best one. Plus I can alwasy stay at one and enjoy the amenities of the others.

Keep the reports coming! Thanks again for the updates!

I've been to the CP 3 times. I loved every minute when I was there. However, I understand the it will now be too child friendly for what I like and I am passing on it this time.

Dave....I know there are only about 100 ppl there, are there a lot of kids running around?

FYI, I dont have a problem with kiddies, I have a 2 1/2 yr old boy of my own, but if Im going to Cancun, being single, I want to party and hang out with more adults my age that arent running around after their kids.
Perhaps when my boy gets older and can appreciate Cancun more, I will go back to the CP.

The place must look amazing tho......pics please!!!!!

Just came in for a few minutes to get out of the sun. It is really hot today. The beach has shrunk significantly since I was here in October. There is only about 50 feet of beach in front of the Cancun Palace. The sand is still beautiful, but there is a considerable amount of rough rocks and large shells about 10 feet into the water. It is part of the recovery process, I'm sure. The water is still 80 plus degrees and beautiful blue. Breakfast this morning was nice. Limited offerings because it was the first breakfast served at the newly renovated hotel. One swim up bar is rocking and rolling with great food, great drinks, and great service. The other swim up bar is set to open tomorrow. The Bose sound system by the pool is awesome. Also, the main bar has tons of state-of-the-art Bose speakers lining the ceiling. It definitely has the WOW effect relative to sound.

I am taking lots of pictures for you guys, but I don't have the time or capability to do it while I'm here. I'll do my best to get them on-line Monday or Tuesday.

Talk to you guys soon.

May is a great time to go. Not too hot, not overyl crowded. We have been to the cancun palace 6 times, 4 of those in May. We are going this may for 3 days after a 7 day stint at the playacar palace. I hope it is ready, I think if they are opening now we should be fine by May.

Default CP April 26-May 1

Well, after reading all these posts as well as the Trip Advisor forum, I think my husband and I are going to switch to CP instead of the Royal. Hopefully, everything will be functioning when we are there!!

Default Tours Thru Palace Resorts

Has anyone ever taken advatage of the tours that Palace Resorts offers?
I was just curious as to how that works. When I go in June, I would like to take my daughter to Wet n Wild or Isla Mujeres - so I was just wondering how it is free.
Do you just get a free shuttle over to the Isle when they see your wristband or free entry to the waterpark.
I am assuming that you must pay for your transportation to and from the port and/or waterpark.

Thanks,
Ellabear424

We have used the free tours. We used the Isla tour 3 times. You have to get to wet 'n wild (bus or walk from CP) and they provide transporation via boat toa private beach club w/ a buffett lunch and all you can drink w/ palace employees. The first 2 times were great, they have since moved (2005 trip) and the beach was not nice, not enough chairs and too many flies around the food. That time we thanked them for the free transportation and went into town. I would recommend using the free trans and then getting a golf cart and explore. It is easy to catch a fairy back and then get a cab to the hotel unless you can be back before they leave. They will take the boat to the town after the beach for shopping so you can meet them there.

We also used Tulum twice. Spent a lot of time picking up and dropping of people and stopped at a market south of Playa for 45 mintues. Great tour, long day.
I think for the wet 'n wild you have to get there (again bus) and you have vouchers for food and free admission.

Ok, so if you're eating with the Palace employees - are they trying to sell you on time shares during your tours????
We are already members but they always try to get us to upgrade.

I remember going to Isla yrs ago and the flies were crazy around the food. I would just like to go veg out on the PLAYA NORTE. I surely do not want to be hassled.
What beach was "not that great"???

Thanks for everything,

Yes...and it's A/I. Unless they've changed their policy, you should bring with you your Palace towel cards so you can get fresh clean towels at the "beach club". Of course, remember to turn the towels back in to have your cards returned. When I went, the A/I included the buffet, a grill, anything at the bar, and non-motorized beach stuff (floating mats, canoes, etc.)

Anything else they offer in association with this tour such as snorkeling and playing with dolphins are not included and you have to prepay. At least, that's how it was when I went.

Yup, the had their own private sand pit w/ a buffett and bar (and restrooms/ lockers). The beach was ok, just crowded w/ people from Sun palace, beach palace, moon palace, etc. Not enough chairs. The water was calm and they had floats (and other non-motorized stuff). Like Michael F. said they had stuff you could pay for too. After a couple of hours the ship you off to downtown for shopping. If you want to go to PLAYA NORTE just go w/ the tour to Isla, their are cabs waiting on the road behind the lockers. We paid $3 to go to Playa Norte. You can either come back, meet at the pier when they head back to Cancun or make your own way back. I would recommend meeting at the ferry dock (ask what time and where before you bail) and the you have free trans back to Cancun. You can also rent a golf cart and explore the entire island - have not done that yet - next time!!

This is not the "palace premier" sell thing. They will try to get you down to moon or ASP for a upgrade. We go, eat bfast, learn new stuff and then collect $100 in 90 minutes and free spa credits. We just eat bfast w/ the person, we eat anyway so let them waste their time. Free cab ride too!

the staff at the beach are palace employees. They used to take you somewhere else that had non-palace employees.

I think Aqua world used to run the entire thing, they had a computer setup so they could sell pictures, etc.

Aqua world still provides the transportation (as of last May) but Palace either leased or purchased some space over there. The aqua world place was much better.

Did you go to the one where they had a old boat hull as a bar in the shade? That is the one we went to in 2001.

Yes. And just off the dock there was an enclosed area which had a nurse shark or two for peeps to pose with. Was/is that strictly for tips still, or is it now one of the stunts for extra charge?

That is the place, it had 3 nursesharks in it. They suggested a "donation" to keep up the sharks. You would get your picture taken and they would try to print and sell the picture before you left. I can't remember if the new place had the nurse sharks, but it was not as good as the old one.

Well another day down in paradise at the Cancun Palace. We are really enjoying our stay here. The hotel is just gorgeous. Today the beach bar just opened. There are about 25 people having a blast there right now. This new bar has about a dozen swings at the bar, just like the Moon Palace has. It is really cool. The bar is stocked with just about every liquor known to man. The only exception that I saw is Havana Club. LeBlanc is the only Palace Resort hotel that has that liquor. All of our meals have been great here. Surprisingly....the damn cheeseburger at the swim up bar has been delicious. They also have nachos, grilled chicken sandwiches and bunch of other tasty stuff. They have Dos Equis on tap, but the best has been the ice-cold Sol out of a 40 oz. bottle. All of the bars here have Sol out of the bottle. The staff has been overly helpful and they will do anything to ensure your stay is excellent. We ran low on Coka Dieta, so I called room service for a sixer with a bucket of ice and it was here in less than 5 minutes. I went down to the Beach Palace yesterday afternoon and that place has a long, long way to go.
Talk to you guys soon. We're going to Senor Frogs for dinner/drinks, then on to Buffett's for a night cap.

The gym and spa are not open yet. We were told another week for those services to be available. Last night we ate at the Asian restaurant. It was gorgeous. Food was very good and it was a lot of fun. The fried ice cream was delicious. The band in the main bar is getting stale. The same four old guys are playing the same songs over and over each night. They're good, but they need to switch up the playlist a little. This is our last full day here. Yesterday we spent a lot of time on beach. If you're into hunting for cool shells near the beach, you're going to love it here and all along the hotel zone.
