Dave T. Nice to hear about the gym at the Sun Palace, it gives me hope for the one at the Cancun Palace. You said when you were there that it was not opened yet. If anyone going there soon can post about the gym it will be most appreciated.

Free,
I can tell you that Cancun Palace employees were unloading a semi truck of fitness equipment last Wednesday afternoon. They told me that four guys began unloading the truck at 7:0 p.m. and they had the trailer empty at 5:00 a.m. So, the equipment is there. I would think that it is either open now, or will very soon.

Thans for the information abut the Sun Palace. I am glad to read the Presidential was awesome at the Sun Palace. Did you see the Presidentials at the Cancun Palace?

DaveT, wouldn't that be nice????? :michaelf: One can dream.

Will my mom, my daughter, my neice and I be able to go to the Sun Palace to check out the band or do you have to be a couple and/or a certain age?

Ella,
They'll all need to be adults (18 or older) to get past the front door.

Ralph,
I did not see the Presidential at the Cancun Palace. Sorry.

Hi everyone,

I've been MIA on this board for ages. We are Palace Resorts members and usually travel to Cancun every year. We skipped last year due to Wilma recovery and other financial obligagions. We usually go to Moon Palace. Our first trip was to Cancun Palace and although we love the beach there and the staff, we found the place closed up too early at night and if you weren't going to town with the entertainment staff, there was nothing to do. Before the renovations, the only TV they had was local - So we couldn't even entertain ourselves with that late in the evening.

After reading about the renovations and Dave's comments here, we decided to give Cancun Palace another try and we booked yesterday. April 20th through April 29th. THANK YOU!!

Dave, I showed my husband your pictures and he's psyched for the Asian restaurant. Did they have Sushi?

Michael F, if you are lurking - :bigwave: from an old friend!!

Denise-n-Jayson,
I am most serious when I say that the Asian restaurant at the Cancun Palace was absolutely fabulous!!! Yes, they had sushi.

I didn't participate, but I heard Antonio announce a few times that he and another entertainment employee would be taking Palace guests to Coco Bongo. There was a special price and transportation to the club.

They usually take everyone to a different bar each night. you get a "VIP" wrist band that includes all drinks. I think they leave at certain time to come back and you can ride back (???), otherwise you have to find your own transp. When we were there it was like $25 PP - all you can drink.

Here is the response I received from Palace Resorts when I
asked them when they were going to post some "REAL PHOTOS"
on their website.

Dear Mr. Mills:

We appreciate the time you took to contact us and apologize for the delay in our response.

Thank you for enquiring about the Cancun Palace. New photography will be available in about 3 to 6 months. This is a long process as we need to go and shoot professional photography.

Thank you for your patience and look forward to having you as our guest.

Sincerely,

Nelson Lopez Hernandez

Just thought you all would like to know.
I was at the Aventura when they were taking the photos that they have up on their page now. They closed off part of the beach area to get those shots. Took them all day to get those 2 shots of the guy and girl standing on the rock looking out at the ocean.

There is a lengthy review posted February 24th on TA by inharmony concerning his recent stay at Cancun Palace.

DaveT,
If you read the review, please comment on it.

Thanks, Jan

I asked DaveT to comment on the TA review of the Cancun Palace, IF he reads it. (He did not ask for comments).

Default Switched from Cancun Palace

Well, we were booked at Cancun Palace, but we flip flopped to the Royal Cancun. The new CP looks to "minimalistic" for my husband. He prefers more "plushness". So maybe next time!!!

Hey guys, I'm sorry that I haven't logged into CancunCare in a while. I've been working a lot after the vacation. I do not go to Tripadvisor and I've not posted any type of review there. I guess I'm loyal to CancunCare. I'll try to check out the post that was mentioned and I'll check back with my thoughts soon.

I searched that site, but I could not find a post by inharmony. Can someone cut the link and post it, or help me find it?

Wow. I don't know where he/she was, but my family and eight guests saw nothing like that. In fact, our flat panel tv in the Cancun Palace had nearly 20 channels (10 more than in years past). I guess it is possible that certain floors were problematic, but our floor - the 10th, was awesome. We stayed in room 1052. We had five rooms in a row. We did not hear people complaining at the desk, nor did we hear any general rumblings about toilets, construction, tv problems, flooding, etc. I'm sure it's possible, but we sure as heck didn't experience any of that, nor did we hear of it.

It would seem that someone from the hotel contacted people that stayed there previous to its closing and asked them to post a review based on the 2 reviews that preceded the aforementioned lengthy one.

Both stayed there quite a while ago, yet at least one mentioned hotel staff in the review and thanked them for reopening.

I've never stayed there, just following the thread as it goes on.

I am not doubting this persons story - but I do not like or trust trip advisor at times.
I was on a message board a while back, I think it was Loco Gringo and some guy intentionally wrote a horrible review about a small resort in Akumal because he wanted to make sure that he could get a room next time. He openly admitted that the place was just awesome and he was afraid that it would be booked for his next visit.
NOW that is dirty!!!

I am off to aerobics and I will check in with you when I get back.

Go to this link and read all the messages that regard the CP. There is a picture in one of the messages and it looks like they have put out some umbrellas.

Ok here we are! EXCEPT When we arrived at the airport it was clear the previous "charter" terminal was still under construction so you get on a bus to customs. No real hassle there except you are outside for a while waiting for customs. Then when its time to hook up transportation to the Cancun Palace they tell you that it really not operational yet - you can go there if you want but there are not many people; option - go to the Moon Palace for the same price. We took it. First thing we did was eat since we really had no breakfast. The whole prime rib was just sitting there waiting for us. Cut off your own slice (which I like to do because I always want the bone). Taste, no bs excellent. Then the deserts that the palace resorts always have out. Wonderful. Now off to the room. If you have ever stayed at MP we are right on the beach wall looking out. Yeah the are still raking up the grass but have some sandy areas if you want to swim but this beach has never been one you'd want to swim in. Lots of water stuff going on - emphasis on jet skis. Weather cloudy over the airport clear at MP. I will definitely have more palace news as time goes on and Cathy and I will check out the CP and see what the deal is.

The Cancun Palace is open as Dave T and others have reported staying there already. It's just that not all the amenities are available and there are fewer peeps staying there at present.
