Default questions

I am thinking of booking a trip for late may for my husband and I and my two daughters. I have a few questions 1. we need passports, anyone get one recently and if so how long did it take? I know they are saying four to six weeks but the trip would be 7 weeks away so it couldn't be late. 2. Anyone stayed at crown paradise? If so how is it for small children ages 3 & 8. Reviews on bookit look good but looking for another source 3. Is the beach pretty friendly for children swimming? 4. would you say it is safe for a vacation with little folks? Thank you

Presuming you're from the US I can't help on the passport issue, but yes you will need them.

Re Crown Paradise, we have been there once with our 5 yr old. The hotel is very kid friendly but it's probably fair to say it's not our personal favourite. They have kids clubs and kids pools with lots of activities going on. We went last Halloween, so it was a pretty quiet time of year but they still did lots of fun halloween things for the kids.

The beach is not safe at all for little ones swimming, it's probably not safe most of the time for adults swimming - but that's true of the whole of that side of Cancun. Paddling up to their knees is fine if you are with them but the water is usually quite rough and there are red flags more often than not.

Safety generally for little ones. Ocean excepted, yes, it's very safe.

My boyfriend just applied for a passport and paid extra to have it processed sooner...it arrived within 1-1/2 weeks (applied from Michigan) it can get pricey though $$$$$...

We got our passports in about 4-5 weeks. You can go on the department of travel (I think--you can google passport and it's the first website to come up) and register to get an email when your passports are mailed.
