When we were there in 2006 they had this fantastic Jazz Flamenco guitarist playing at La Isla when they were reopening after repairing the hurricane damage. We walked down there many, many nights. I would listen and my wife would shop Good deal for me!

I hope I spelled his name correctly. Does anyone know if he is still performing locally.

Tremendous musician. He is from Spain, base player from Cancun, and rythym guy from Puerto Rico (he was the only one who spoke english).

His name is Juan d'Anyelica. I have not seen him in Cancun since the rebuild time from Wilma. He has a Facebook page but not much info in there as to where he performs or much else. There is info about him being in Cancun but I do not know where and when he performs.

Juan plays at Roots on Tulipanes, off Tulum, the side street beside Burger King, and across from Palacio Municipal, where you would get off the R-1 bus.

I have seen him there a few times but I have not been there in a while. Roots has a FB page that is better than their website and the phone number is there. The FB site is not up to date but does indicate he was there 3 different weekends in May. He has been there often in the last couple of years for sure and for sure after Wilma.

Many thanks to both of you. I really enjoyed his talent so will endeavor to see him a time or two when we are once again in Cancun (heaven as far as my wife is concerned)
