| We love the beaches in Cancun. Warm water, clean, clear and the sand at the beach is perfect. We are going back in 6 weeks (2/20/2011) for 6 nights. I have a question for future travel.... Where else in the world can you find beaches like Cancun? Me and my wife vacation quite often with our 4 boys (ages, 11, 13, 14 ,15)... anytime they are out of school. We like to go to Cancun about twice per year but we have the entire summer break too. Where else can we go that has beaches like Cancun... not just in Mexico but anywhere? I know this is a bit off topic from Cancun but I thought I would give it a try. Thanks. |

| Well, don't want to steer you away from Cancun buuut... ![]() The Riviera Maya rocks, truly, some of the best beaches in the world, in my humble opinion better than Cancun (ooops, did I say that out loud?). Belize, Honduras (I'm dying to go to Roatan), and Dominican Republic. I looooooooved Cuba too, some fantastic bargains for Canadians there (not sure where you live). Now, if we want to talk fantasy land, I am just itching to get to Bora Bora or Thailand.

| I have heard about Bleize and heard it is great. Is it safe there for my family? Last year we did Cancun for 4 days and then down to Playa Del Carmen. We didnt like Playa at all. In fact we cut the trip short lost money on our condo and returned to Cancun. It just wasnt our thing. We like the resort area and the beaches were better in Cancun. |

| The beach in Punta Cana is our favorite. That said, there isn't much to do off the resort. I will say that the resorts we have stayed at were great. Especially Barcelo Punta Cana for the kids. |

| I wanted to bring this thread back up again.... All of the above are good ideas.... We are still looking for somewhere comparable to Cancun. We want the white sandy beaches, (no rocks or weeds) clean blue clear water and the warm water...... We are thinking about somewhere in the Caribean..... Bahamas???? We have never been anywhere there. Any personal experience? Where should we take our kids in the Bahamas to find the beaches and water we love? Thanks again.... |

| Tulum and the rest of the Riviera Maya - their beaches whoop Cancuns behind, hard. Go there before all the big, ugly hotels start popping up. Outside of Mexico, Id have to say that my beloved Thailand has some serious quality beaches. So does Cairns and Port Douglas(Far North Queensland, Australia) |

| The beaches near the town of Tulum are great, as Rawkus and others have said- more than one hundred meters deep, with white, powdery sand. From the airport at Cancun it's only about 1.5 hours away. |

| OK, your issue is transportation, it seems, because you can't improve on the beaches in this area, in my opinion. I've been to Roatan- nice, but no better, and expensive to get to. Cuba, nice, but you've first got to get here, so there is no savings. Thailand, nice, but have you priced those tickets? Bite the bullet, pay what you have to, and come on down. We've got the best beaches, and cheapest airfares going, for those coming from North America! |

| Siesta Key and Clearwater Beach, Florida are great beaches. Clearwater is more crowded, lots to do. Aruba, St. Martin(french side) are a couple favorites.

| My first ever experience with powdery, fine white sand, and crystal clear water was at Ko Samet, in Thailand. My wife and I were sure glad to find the same closer to home, on the Yucatan Peninsula. It's a far cry from the sand and sea I grew up with, on the Texas Coast of the Gulf of Mexico. |

| The beaches of the south pacific ie fiji, french polynesia look beautiful. I think it costs a huge amount to go there from anywhere in the world though due to it being in the middle of the oceon miles from anything haha
