| I know this is a bit of a long shot.... But I thought I would give it a try. About 5 years ago this picture was taken. We were driving from the hotel zone down to Xcaret and Tulum. Somewhere close to the hz we stopped for breakfast. We had breakfast in the little hut in the background. I tried to find this spot on our last visit but I couldnt find it. Does anybody recognize it? It was just a small village/town with a few shops.... We loved it there and would like to return next week for breakfast. Thanks. |

| I'd venture a hunch that it's Puerto Morelos's coastline there but I could be wrong. |

| I'm gonna have to agree with Dangers, it is very likely that it's Puerto Morelos. |

| Yes, looks like Pelicano's in Puerto Morelos to me, I can see the town center park off to the right there.

| Definitely from the pier at Pelicanos. The short answer is to get to the site of this photo it is about 25 minutes from the airport exit off Highway 307. Drive past the airport. About 6 minutes and you will go over the overpass, which is at the Moon Palace. About 12-15 minutes more and there will be a second overpass. BEFORE the overpass you want to be in the far right lane and take what looks like a service road. You will see the obvious left turn under the overpass and the town square is 2-3 minutes. If you run into the Caribbean you have gone a bit too far. Pelicanos is on the far right corner of the square and you can see the big palapa roof. Myfavorite thing is to stop at Cafe Amancia, mainly just to look at Amancia, but they also happen to have little goodies like bagels with cream cheese and salmon. Two or three places to the left is the Alma Libre bookstore, probably the best bookstore in all of Quintana Roo. Alma Libre does not translate to FREE ALMA as she alreeady escaped. Did I get all of this right Rob?

| If I may insert my unsolicited opinion for a moment (ahem), the food at Pelicano's is really kind of mediocre. The last time we were there it was not good at all. On the other hand, if you keep going down the road that Pelicano's is on you'll find a place called "La Panza es Primero". It's on the beach too and I really like the food there. The decor is totally fun Lucha Libre posters etc.. Max and I always share the alambre de arrachera (I just ate but am drooling thinking about it). La Panza es Primero, Barriga Llena, Sabor a Mi, La Tiendita...

| Ditto to Canuck. I would just say that the last time I went to Pelicano's, which has tons of shrimp options, the food was almost edible, but not quite.

| I went down to Pto Morelos on Monday and hit the beach. Every day they seem to drive the tractors and scrape up the seaweed. The beach was beautiful after the tractor finished. The water was too cold for me but the "tourists" from Mexico City got partly wet.
