Default Need help chosing a restaurant

Hello again, my wife and I will be in Cancun in April. I would like to take her out to a nice authentic Mexican fare restaurant. I am looking for something with a nice environment but not really upscale. The price range I was hoping for was 10.00 to 20.00 entree's. A Mariachi or other live entertainment would be nice but not necessary. We were also hoping to find a place that is in Cancun city and maybe a little less commercialized, not that there is anything wrong with senor frogs or bubba gump shrimp, we just want a more cultural restaurant.
So is there such a place, that wont cost me over 75.00 for 2 people?

My wife and I love going to La Parrilla. They have 15% discount coupons on their website.

Not sure what hotel you are staying at, but across from Temptation resort is a place called Rio ( I think) it is a brazilian style feast which was very interesting...not sure on the price.
If you are looking for mexican food,,, a few years back my husband and I went to "old town" which is the opposite way from the tourist part of cancun. We went to a place called Market 28. ( you can take the bus there)It is just a shopping center, more of the locals though and not tourists, very interesting and good experience. There we had lunch at an outdoor place in the market area, lots of locals, musicians and very good food. It was lunch so it was fairly cheap. I haven't gone out to dinner at any places.
Don't know if this helps out or if it is what you are thinking but thought I would share. Have a great time!

Thanks for the info, I'll will check them out.

Cody, we went to market 28 in 2009 and loved it. Lots of stuff to see, I'm sure we will stop in one of those places for lunch while we are shopping.

I can also recommend the " Laguna Grill " in the HZ. Its across the Grand Oasis... I always go there once on vacation, and i was pleased all the time.

La Parilla is what you are looking for, really Mexican, in your price range, downtown, mariachis. It's my parents first stop when they come to town and it's always full, mostly locals and some tourists thrown into the mix.
