Hey everyone ![]() I'm due to go to cancun on 11th july with my boyfriend, iv never been before and I really don't know what to expect from the weather, I'm abit of a worrier at the best of times and I'm really scared of bad weather such as hurricanes and tsunamis. I was just wondering if anyone can give me some info of what to expect. Is cancun likely to get tsunamis? Also I was wondering if any1 has stayed in the riu cancun, if so is it nice? All answers appreciated xxx

Tsunamis: not a chance, the very specific geological conditions required dont exist anywhere near Cancun for one to arise. Hurricanes: A possibility. Hurricane season runs from June to November. Powerful hurricanes that early in the season are rare. September and October are much more likely but even then they are infrequent. The last big one to hit Cancun was in 2005 and there has been very little since. Weather: In July it's going to be roasting hot. Around 35C every day but with humidity that makes it feel like 45! Riu: we've stayed there but only for a weekend. Lots of fellow Brits, close to the nightlife, excellent food. I'm sure you'll love it! Cancun Weather in July

My sister just spent her Cancun holiday at Riu Cancun, and she had nothing but praise for the quality of service, and food. On top of that, she paid just $215/day, total, for two people (just over $100 each). ToriB often recommends Riu Cancun for those who are cost conscious. My sister now joins that large number of first time visitors who leave Cancun feeling very satisfied with their experience, and having plans to return!
