Take the bus from the bus station downtown that's heading for Puerto Morelos / Playa del Carmen. Crococun is about 15 minutes past the airport and a few miles before the Puerto Morelos turn off so about 30 minutes drive.

Crococun is situated directly on the main Highway 307 on the same side of the road on the way there. To get back you'd need to cross the road and find a bus stop on the other side, or just try and flag one down.

Steve:

Coming from Cancun, you have to cross the road to get to the park itself.

However, when you are returning(to Cancun), you are on the correct side of the road as you exit the park.

Ive never managed to get the ADO buses to stop when returning, and have had to wait for the smaller "Playa Express" vans/minubuses.

Yes, you're correct. Sometimes, I still think if it's on your left you're on the same side of the road. Old habits die hard.

So is the "playa express" buses like a colectivo?? And it will return to near the Cancun bus station downtown??

Steve: I adjusted to left-side traffic when I moved to OZ, then back to right-side when coming to Mexico, although sometimes there doesnt seem to be "any-side" considering how many people drive around here, hehe

Tbonita: Yes, its like a colectivo. It departs next to the tiny Oxxo, across the street/parking at the ADO main-entrance.

Cant remember if it stops at the ADO station in Cancun when you return... Its been a while since I took it, but Im pretty sure it does. Just ask the driver and you will be fine.

Playa Express uses Mercedes 15-16 passnger busses...in the US, they are the same as the Dodge/Chrysler Sprinter type vans....great ride, better than a Ford Econoline with bench seating! They leave from across the street to the north of the ADO Cancun station...

Hola Tbonita,

Long time, no hear.

I would put Crococun more like 8-10 minutes from the airport exit off Hwy 307. Pretty much midway between the Moon Palace and the turn off to Pto Morelos.

The Playa Express drivers drive like Dale Earnhardt Jr. They may or may not let you off the bus but the speed limit drops there so they may.

Another option (do it like the natives) is that there are taxis that hang out on Tulum, north of the bus station a couple of blocks, more or less in the Market 23 area.

We just had a fare increase but the fares have been $45 per person all the way to Playa del Carmen. They take off when the cab has 4 paying passengers. I have been known to "buy" the whole cab for two people. They are faster than the ADO buses which are speed controlled by some hi tech satellite deal. There would be zero problem getting dropped off at Crococun.

Good luck.
