Default HELPPPPPPPP, Vaccinations

We booked up to stay at The Great Parnassus from 22 August until 5 September. We read today that there are vaccinations we need to have 4 weeks prior to travelling. Thomas Cook failed to tell us this!! We will contact our doctor tomorrow but can anyone advise us about this.

There are no compulsory vaccinations, so dont panic. Some are recommended though.

In the UK Dr's will typically recommend Typhoid and Hepatitis A. In addition it is always advisable to have an up to date Tetanus even if not traveling abroad.

No need for any anti Malaria precautions for Cancun.

BTW you'll enjoy the Great Parnassus. It's our favourite family friendly hotel.

Don't panic - we are going to Cancun on the 23rd August, we also were not told by the travel agent we needed vaccinations - we were advised by a friend who is a nurse that we should get them as a precaution - as long as you have them two weeks before you go it will be fine - we had Tetanus (including Diptheria and Polio because that was the only way it comes) Hepatitis A and Typhoid - we were offered Hepatitis B but decided we didn't need it. Doctor advised us that we did not need malaria tablets either. We had ours yesterday!!!

Just found out about this yesterday myself. Hadnt a clue that vaccinations were recommended until my sister spy'd a poster about it in the local GP's and told me. Must get on the ball.

Have these vaccinations, if you want, you don't need them any more here than you would at home. Having them will give you a certain measure of reassurance.
