Usually Doug just orders a pitcher of beer for himself, and says give me 4 glasses, then throws away the other three glasses and drinks the pitcher for himself. Of course he would leave a buck tip for such service.

BUT, there is some downside to Cancun which will prevent frequent visitors like me to come to Cancun in future.

Incident #1: Me and my buddies went to Coco Bongo on Saturday night. We were dancing with gals and one of my friend split up and went outside to smoke. He had little bit too much to drink, I suppose. Someone at the front smoking area of Coco Bongo cut his club badge from his wrist. Then, that someone took/stole $400 cash from his wallet and then put wallet back in his pocket. My friend was literally passed out and when he woke up he realize that $400 is missing from him wallet and he lost Coco Bongo badge. So, he had to wait till 6 in the morning until we got out of the club to get him back to hotel. He called us but we can't hear it inside with loud music playing.

Yes, it was his fault for being too drunk and hanging at the smoking area of Coco Bongo. But, isn't it suppose to be safe at tourist area?

Incident #2: We went to the City on Friday night. We paid $50 for an entrance which included all drinks. To our surprise, after ordering third glass of beer the bartenders at different bars started asking us for tips otherwise they wouldn't serve us alcohol anymore. When we saw them our badge, they sawed us mean look and started laughing at us.

If it was US, we would have easily picked up fight. But, we wanted to be safe in Mexico so we let it go and for each drinks we paid them $1 tip individually. Totally not happy with experience at the City. Never going to go there again.

Please note, this type of incident never happened at any other club. But, happened at the City twice. So be careful before going there unless if you are a girl.

Incident #3: We brought back two females friends at Grand Oasis one evening who happened to stay at the Oasis. One of them got too drunk and she puked on bathroom floor and some area of the room. We called room service and they cleaned it at 9 pm. When we checked out, the front desk charged us $90 for cleaning services. When asked for explanation they said that they had to use laundry services to clean it. But, don't you think $90 is too much??

In nutshell, in beginning we felt like tipping each staff members and felt like they deserve it. But, once they start ripping us off, it sounds like they don't deserve it.

This is a joke right?

1. Pickpockets and thiefs are everywhere in every city. The lesson learned here is not to get so drunk you pass out by yourself with $400 cash in your pocket. Plus, it happened outside a bar filled with other drunk people. Thats a recipe for disaster.

2: Dude, just tip your server. The cover charge includes entrance to the club and your drinks. The bartender still has to serve you and should be tipped. Throw the guy $5 or $10 and the drinks will be coming all night.

3: Seriously? You brought a girl back your hotel that puked all over the bathroom. Some one has to clean it. $90 may be high, but what isn't over-priced at a hotel. And what's a fair price for cleaning up someone else's vomit anyway?

I guess I'm of a completely different mentality. If I brought some drunken girl to my hotel room and she puked, I would feel responsible for cleaning it up. How on earth can you expect hotel personnel to do it? Its YOUR mess.

You'd have to add a few zeros to $90 for me to clean it up. I think you got a bargain and hopefully learned a lesson.

Well this thread is interesting! I'll throw in my 2 cents just for fun...

As far as the bartenders go, I agree that service in Cancun nightclubs is horrendous. I think a large part of that is the fault of the nightclub itself for not being clear on its "All Inclusive" policy. The bartenders get the short end of the stick on that deal, I'm sure, but demanding tips is unacceptable IMO. That being said, I always tip anyway because I know that's just how it is and there's nothing I can do to change it. You have every right to complain, but it's not going to change anything. It sucks. Sorry

On the robbery, I agree with Steve and Rawkus that robbery is always wrong and nobody is every asking for it or deserves it, which is exactly why I've never stolen from a drunk person. That being said, carrying around $400, leaving your group, exiting the club and passing out on the sidewalk is never a smart idea. I say the friend was damn lucky that's all that happened. To me, the fact that all he lost was $400 and his bracelet means that Cancun is pretty damn safe!! (where else in the world can you pass out alone for several hours in the middle of the night on a crowded street and still make it back to your hotel unharmed, and with your original group, not to mention a "lady friend"?) and I agree that if he still had his iPhone, he might have just "lost" his money elsewhere in the few hours he was unaccounted for.

For the vomit... dude, you brought a drunk stranger to your hotel room and she puked in several different places. No amount of money can erase that disgusting memory from the poor maid's head. Whoever cleaned that room deserves a friggin medal.
