Hi Tom, my husband and I watch the weather very closely because we travel quite a bit and if you go to wunderground.com click on tropical/hurricane, click on tropical storm emily and then click discussion, as of 11:00 am today, the discussions are that they don't think this storm is going to do much. The projected path is the Yucatan but it may be a whole lot of nothing before it gets there. Maybe the "weatherdood" can shed some light on what's going on.

Oh and by the way, you're going to love Cancun!!!!!

Well, I guess I was wrong about Emily. Looks like she got stronger and turned into a hurricane last night. They are still saying that her projected path is the Yucatan. Tom if you purchased cancellation insurance, now may be the time to use it. My husband and I were in a hurricane in the caribbean years ago and it was no fun at all.

Weather is hot and sunny again today current temp is 92.5F.

I now have a new website:

http://www.webcamcancun.com

The webcam is on top of Brants house, 5 miles from the coast. Sorry, there is no nice beach pic (we are working on that) but it will give you some idea of the weather.

Hello from Las Vegas, unfortunately Emily do look like going to Cancun or La Riviera Maya on Sunday or Monday, we try to change our flight for today or tomorrow bu coud not find a flight to Cancun.

Thanks God my brother is at our house and is taking care of all the preparations,

Up to today is looks like Emily is gaining force as it slow his speed, we think it is going to hit between PDC and Cancun, of course we are not profesionals but that is our feeling.

Seems like we are not longer taking vacations during this season.

Kori & Eric -
Emily is a fast moving storm and is due to clobber us here on Sunday night. It will be well over by Tuesday for sure. You'll want to pay attention to the posts here after that to see what folks say about the aftermath.

I've got people flying in on Friday as well, if all goes well.

HTH, Kim

The post that I sent to Tom about loving Cancun is true. My husband and I have been to Cancun more times than I can count and we LOVE IT!!. The post that I sent to Tom about loving Cancun and about the weather was sent July 13 before Emily turned into a hurricane. The early discussions were that they weren't sure that Emily was going to do much. Obviously that has changed. My fear is that Emily may turn into a Gilbert (Category 5 hurricane that hit Cancun 1988) but who really knows. Hurricanes are tricky and can change course within minutes. My prayers do go out to all that live in Cancun or that are currently there for vacation. Cancun is a terrrific place and always will be despite what mother nature may bring.

Note the date that my post to Tom was written, July 13. If Tom ever makes it to Cancun he will love it!!! Hopefully he had travel insurance that will allow him to reschedule his trip.

deb,

From what I am told by my boyfriend who works there, city buses will take the guests to the shelters.

Thanks so much - I'm sure by now my daughter knows what's going on, but a few hours ago she was getting different stories depending on who they asked.

Is there a good site to catch Cancun weather and/or hurricane updates? I know I am not going to do much else the next couple days :!:

She was pretty upset when I talked to her about 3 hours ago - I think the hurricane preparations she was seeing just got to her. I told her the same thing, but that she would be telling that story to her grandkids one day. Thanks!!!

Default Emily Damage

Hi Steve and everyone,

This is my first post on the board.
Glad to hear that there were no major problems in Cancun from Emily and I hope everyone there is safe.
Has anyone any news about further down the coast? We are coming to the Copacabana resort in September and I've already heard that their roof is gone.......ooops. This will be our first trip to Mexico.
Hopefully things will be getting back to normal by the time we arrive

We went to Florida last year and yes we did have a brush with Ivan. Is it me or are these hurricanes following me?????

It may be a bit soon for that. I'm sure Steve, Mike L. or Ana will be by and say something, but 8-9 days from now is tough to say even here in Texas. You never know when the next tropical disturbance might brew up...or it might not at all. Couple more days from now will provide a better picture...

Today weather was sunny with some wind from the north east and ocean looks like dancing a rock'n roll, humidity is high ande temp at noon was 95°.

September is a warm month, with some chance of tropical weather and lovely nightds with fresh air.

Thanks Ana! The cooler nights will be nice, I know last August it was really hot when we went and somewhat uncomfortable at night.

Golden I will take a look to the up coming days and let our know.

Today we have a great sunny day with. Quiet and calm ocean, some few puffy clouds running quickly in the sky and high humidity and MOSQUITOES.
