|  ~ PLAYA TRIP REPORT ~ DAY THREE ~ DAY THREE - SATURDAY - MAY 12  We woke up early, but never early enough to get a picture of the sunrise. Norb sat on the "porch" waiting for me to get ready for the day ...  Then we started to walk over to the restaurant for breakfast. The massage palapa was next to our room ...  The grounds at the Shangri La are so pretty ...  Just lovely ...  It's very serene walking along the paths ...  The view from one of the pools ...  This is the pool near the breakfast and lunch restaurant ...  This is the section where Mike, Sheila and Christine stayed ...  This is the little gift shop ...  I have no idea what these two are doing, and I don't want to know! ... :shock:  After breakfast we walked to the beach ...  This is one of the beachfront casitas, it's bigger and it's more expensive ...  We settled in for a morning of sun, and boy, was it ever HOT!   A dip in the water to cool off ...  I wanted to try a restaurant in Playa called Carboncito's, so we decided to go out for lunch. We all got dressed and headed to 5th Avenue. Along the way Mike said he wanted pizza ... he's a bottomless pit! We stopped at Pizza Pazza on 5th, and Norb ordered two pieces of pizza for Mike while us girls shopped ...  While Mike was gobbling his pizza, this little cat was under the stool just waiting for Mike to drop something ...  We finally made it down to Carboncito's, and ordered the salsa platter ...   YUM! .. YUM! .. YUM!  We all agreed that Carboncitos was DELICIOUS! We finished lunch and continued on our walk on 5th. OH LOOK! ... It's the Steeler's quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger ...  In the off season Ben sells souvenirs on 5th Avenue ... WHO KNEW?!?! :wink: At the pier ...  We decided it was too hot to keep walking, so we went back to the hotel. Our room, 21B ...  Our room was always clean ...  Mike, Sheila and Christine went to the pool, while Norb and I went to Happy Hour at the bar. About 5:15 the sky got dark, the winds picked up, and the rains came. It stormed! Lightning and thunder and then HAIL! :shock:  I tried to get a picture of the hail, but it melted too fast. The lights were going on and off in the bar. We could see the lounge chairs blowing around the pool. The rain was coming in the windows and door, the floor was getting flooded. We have never been in the Yucatan during a storm like this.  But, it was HAPPY HOUR, so we weren't worried! :lol: About 45 minutes later the rain and winds started to slow down, so we made a run for our room. We showered and dressed for dinner. It was still raining, but just a little. We met the other three at the restaurant. Tonight there was a soup and salad bar. Your choice of entree was pork or fish with rice and broccoli. We had the fish, and it was very good. For dessert the choice was ice cream or 3 milk cake ...  Miguel has been our waiter for breakfast and dinner the past three days, and he was great! ...  After dinner we thought it best if we stayed at the hotel. We didn't know if the rain was done for the night, so we didn't want to chance walking around town. We said good night, and went back to our rooms.  |

| Another wonderful day in paradise!! The fool looked fantastic, and thank you for the kitty picture! I hope he dropped something for him!
