| Well this post has some very good info, and well lots of lame info. 1st point I want to make is for the Heman dude that never "backs down". Go ahead, be a macho and end up messing up your vacation and more than likely your friends vacation. For the most part us locals we are very friendly, but like everywhere else in the world, young guys will be young guys. When you are here, you are in our "battle field". If you are "too macho" to back down from a local, at best this is what will happen. At best you might get a couple of good punches in with the first guy, shortly after his friends, and other locals that might not even know the local, will jump in and kick your rear, badly. (Locals don't let other locals get beat up a tourist). Eventually cops will be called in, and more than likely all the locals will go home that night and sleep well, while you will be taken to jail (even if you didn't start the fight). I am a man too, and of course, once someone hits me, I am hitting back regardless. But if a local just starts insulting you, or shoves you, the best thing you can do is swallow your pride and walk away. If another tourist starts a fight with you, you might be able to kick his butt, but again cops will be called and both of you will go to jail. Try to avoid confrontations and fights as much as you can. Swallow your pride if you most, at the end of the day you will have a much better time. Swimming in the ocean at night is not really dangerous (if you are drunk swimming in the ocean at any time is dangerous. Yes some sharks do come close to shore etc, but you are more likely to get hit by lighting twice, than you are getting attacked by a shark. I often go to Playa del Nino to swim at night and wait for the sunrise. The advice given to women, and watching your drink etc is good advice. The only thing I dislike about it, is that is advice that people should follow everywhere not just in Cancun. In that sense Cancun is not more dangerous that any other big city, such as Miami or NY. Women going to the bathroom alone at a big club is perfectly fine. The whole "guy waiting in the restroom for a single woman to rape" is a huge myth. If you go to a bad local bar outside the hotel zone, in one of "las regiones" then yes by all means don't go to a bathroom alone,, heck don't even go to these places. If you use good common sense as you would in any other big city where you don't live, you should be fine. Cancun is one of the safest cities in Mexico. Locals and police do protect tourists, Cancun without tourists would quickly become a ghost town, most of our income is derived from tourism. Be save, and have fun Manny

| Manny, soooo nice to see you posting in here... and i totally agree with you, i just want to make sure that everyone knows that what you mean going to a bad town bar in the "regiones" is not downtown... its been hard to try to get my friends to go downtown already... for the people who doesnt know what the "regiones" are... they are like the really bad areas of Cancun, that are not even close to what we call downtown Cancun. Just letting you know... P.S. Manny, is your camera ready?! hahaha miss you! (and your cam)

| Hey people, i read this topic, and i have some doubts. I'm from brazil, 21 years old. I think i cannot trust the employers from Oasis. Does anybody had problems with stolen things at Oasis? As i'm going lonely, do you think Oasis is the best hotel? I don't mind with comfort, i just mind about partying and girls. I know that have more mans that womens there. But is Oasis worst than other look this ratio? The last questions: Will i survive? How should i go to parties, taxi or bus? Will have some girls to have sex :P ? Sorry , my english is not so good! Thanks in advance! |

| 1- Welcome aboard! 2- Opinions about the Oasis vary. Some think it's great, others think it's horrible. Personally, I have never had a problem there. At least one person here (Fletch) has had his stuff stolen. 3. Everyone.. (well, most people) survive. There's buses 24/7 that will get you to from hotel / clubs / girls places. 4. Yes - there are girls. |

| Thank you for the quick reply. I saw that are a lot of clubs at Cancun, the party package from StudentVip ( http://www.studentcity.com/destinati..._package_id=71 ) . Does just one club open per day, or this is a pre-choosen by StudentCity, do you think it is better to choose at doors there ? Is this package worth it? Are there many brazilians? Bonus Brasil |

| the consensus around here is the pkg is a bad idea. You save some money - but what you do each night is already picked out for you. A lot of people do the studentcity thing, but that means longer lines to get in, longer wait to get drinks, and very very very packed clubs. |

| It's hard to bring everything you will need without one though... although, do you need to bring your ID to the bars or could I leave that at the hotel?

| You won't need ID when you go out. Club don't really check IDs. But maybe it's smart to bring a photocopy of an id with your hotel information on it so when you pass out drunk on the side of the road, people knows who are you and can help you home.

| Yea I'd be super pissed since I've been bragging to my friends about this trip the whole time! I guess I'll try to put them online back at the hotel every chance I get so just in case I do lose it, I'll still have SOME pics. But the tight wristband should work. Or I could get a really loose one and put it around my neck! |

| Don't do drugs....Don't join a gang.... problem solved. It's really that easy. In the Hotel Zone, you have nothing to worry about as long as you make smart choices. Even downtown, I have never ever felt unsafe, nor had any crazy shit happen anywhere I go. |
