| This will be my first time in Cancun and I'll be there for 7 days starting march 8th. My question/questions is... #1- Will $1,000 be enough cash to last the week down there(clubs, food, taxi(split 4 ways though)ALCOHOL.....) I'm not sure what else I would need money for down there but maybe somebody could fill me in because I'm sure you guys have been there more then I lol. #2- How much $ was it to get a taxi to take you from the airport to your room? And since I'm comming on the 8th of March i am assuming that the airport will be filled with Spring Breakers? How difficult will it be to get a taxi in a reasonable amount of time? Thanks. |

| I'd never have that much cash around. I usually take out 3000 pesos from the ATM at a time, put 2000 pesos in the safe and never carry more than 1000 pesos on me.

| i also would suggest not including any money for taxi at all. the bus rides down town are half the fun and will take you anywhere for less than a buck. They do NOT give change though so you'll have to get pesos unless you'd like to be ripped off each time! lol

| It's Mexico. Use pesos. And don't take all that cash with you. I still don't understand that. There's no reason to risk losing your money when using an ATM card is easy and has the best conversion rate.

| for one week $1000 should be more than enough. if your hotel is all-inclusive you'll need less. Clubs are around $40-50USD/night plus tips. bus is US$0.75 each ride.... cheapest, easiest way to get around. If you figure +/- $100/day you'll be in the ballpark. $1000 will let you do a couple extra excursions/buy a few rounds at Slices.

1 more question.. Food? My resort is all inclusive but we opted out of that so I will be needing to buy my own food. Are the prices reasonable around there and is there any places you can recommend for cheap food that won't get us sick? thanks! | |

| My Dad was just here and opted out of the All inclusive which was $12 extra a day and the breakfast alone was that price. Buying food in the Hotel Zone is a little pricey. So if your room has a kitchenette, go to WalMart or Chedraui. Nothing in the HZ should get you sick...maybe a random street vendor downtown, but I have yet to have any issues. |

| Once again... why the hell would anyone bring $1000-$2000 cash to a place where you don't know the staff, you'll be sh$tfaced drunk the whole time, and if people see you peeling off bills they'll want to have some of it? This is 2010. Use the ATM. Follow Henry's advise.
