Does the grand oasis have a wi-fi connection?? Throughout the rooms or somewhere in the resort??

Henry, are you bringing your computer? I pay to use the computers at Oasis a few times during the week so I can set my fantasy lineup, check my email quick, etc...Is the Oasis wi-fi free, and if so, could I use yours briefly at all during the week?

Awesome, i'll see what the range is like. It says on some review sites some of the rooms at the clipper club have wifi. If that's the case it's gonna make meeting up with you guys so much easier!

Not the whole trip, just while you are at hotspots. So if he is not on wifi and you ping him, he is not going to get it and you may not know he didn't get it (depending on how ping works, I am not too familiar with it. can you see who is online or not like an IM application?).

Nope, it just delivers it everytime you get a reception.

Yeah, I looked more into it too. Looks like it's just a push IM like SMS (except it uses the internet). It's not really a full blow IM application like BBM. With BBM, there is bi directional feedback. You can see people's status and tell if people have receive and if people have read your IM. IPhone users kept on saying PING is like BBM but it's more like a poor man's SMS.

which can be both, good or bad lol

bbm is the best way to go, as its free and quite fast compared to IMs and SMS at times

Just as long as we get a wifi spot we're golden.

As long as the msg goes through on our end, whenever the other person gets to a signal is all that matters. were going to be having long and engaging conversations in cancun. 1 recieved msg is really all thats needed.

"im at oasis-12pm"

and so on.

Yeah, but you don't know if the other person is in range or not, that's the part that's going to be annoying. Say for example,

BC->Sam: "I'll wait for you outside of Frogs"

And Sam went out of range and BC doesn't know that so he end up waiting outside of Frogs for an hour.

Whatever, it'll work part of the time. As you as you guys know you can't rely on it 100%, it should be okay.

Im planning on using my AIM and email on my iPhone to communicate with everyone. As long as I put my phone on airplane mode and wifi is on basically everything works except text and phone calls. Yes, Oasis Offer's WI-FI connection, for a fee of course. You can pay by the hour or day etc.... Check with front desk and they will give you your password upon payment. There are several computers in Phase I AND II. Sometimes you get lucky and hop on after someone does not sign off.... for Free !

No way! Thats a dumb message to send someone. Why would a fool wait somewhere without being sure someone got something? Plus you dont go anywhere unless the the person responds to the ping. Duh.

Besides, am i wrong this is the usual way of things: Meet up at Oasis by day, yall go back in the evening get ready, rest, meet at Oasis by night. Thats always the fool proof way. I only see pinging while someone is about to come to the Oasis or is waiting in the lobby. The only other times is in the evening and dinner plans.

Yes, you have to make sure the other person gets it. It's not as fool proof as BBM where you can easily tell, without having the other person responding. That was my point.

I think Sam doesn't want to come back to meet up at Oasis after getting ready in the evening because his hotel is already near party zone. It makes more sense for him to just meet up with us outside of clubs. That's when we need to be able to communicate the most but also when being able to communicate is the hardest because Andrew probably won't want to take his phone when he is out at night. I'm going to have my phone but there is no way for Sam to contact me, only I can send message to him via fb (ie. 1 way). And I don't know what Norma's plans are and whether she will be out with us every night. It'll probably be helpful if you have your phone when we go out at night so he can txt you.

If sam is already in the area we're going to, then anytime between 5-9pm he can get to some wifi and we will be fine. Infact once we all agree on what we're doing, I'll just send that to him.
