3 days till cancun and im sick, Should i go

i woke up this morning pretty damn sick... temperature, sore body, ridiculous head ache, and swollen glands. Should i tough it out and still go.

Have any of you gone sick, did you regret it? i dropped like a G on this i would hate spring break not in Cancun

Load up on Emergen-C (the cure all) and definitely go! Getting out might just do you some good in helping feel better. I'm currently battling a cold myself, luckily I still have 10 days to shake it

ummm duhh! lol go anyway! I just got over an 8 day cold. sore throat, fever, chills, exhaustion, congestion, etc. So happy its gone. I dont care if i had the flu though. Id hide it so no one noticed and hack my head off on a beautiful beach

I've been ill before leaving, too. The warm air does wonders. Take meds with you. Ibuprofen and "Sudafed" if you can get it. The Sudafed can be taken with the Ibuprofen and will perk you up a little, if you need it. It helps with the other symptoms, as well.

Get lots of rest and fluids in you before you leave.

Be extra careful at the airport and on the plane, to avoid passing the bug on to others. Cough in your sleeve, if you have to. Use lots of hand disinfectant. It would suck to give it to someone else just starting their vacation.

The sun and odd dip in the sea will make you feel better FACT. and as someone mentioned be ill in bed or be in on the beach.

I've torn practically in half my ligaments in my foot and just this day can walk (limp) again, lets say my dance move for Cancun will be hop scotch. But still going!

First: go to the doctor. Sometimes you get a bacterial infection and you may need antibiotics.

Then pack your lugagge.

After doing that get in bed all day drinking huge amounts of liquid and the medication the doctor gave you. Do that until you have to go to airport.

When you arrive to Cancun you may not feel all recovered, but it won't last all trip, my guess is after one or two days in there you'll be feeling much better.

Good point. We aren't doctors. With the swollen glands it could be strep throat, requiring antibiotics. See a doctor.

I TOTALLY agree! After some drinks you wont feel bad at all. Alcohol is a pretty good analgesic.

On a more serious note though, you should definitely see a doc before you go. Even if it isn't that serious, make sure he knows that you're going to cancun because whenever you travel, you are exposed to new germs that your body hasn't dealt with before and could make things worse.

Yea, like Hepatitis A, Typhoid fever and the mesquito's carry a nasty virus! I would atleast get the Hep A vaccine and bring some deet for the squito's!

Worse comes to worst in Cancun you don't need a prescription to get drugs. I bought Amoxicillin 2 yrs ago. It was soooo cheap too! i couldnt believe it!

I went a couple of years ago and was sick as a dog.I ended up taking it easy during the day and pounding tylenol cough syrup and then hitting it hard at night...It worked like a charm.

Surprisingly, I didn't get one mosquito bite while I was down there.

When I got my travel vaccinations, they went on and on about the mosquitos in mexico. They said they feed during the daytime and to wear atleast 20% deet to prevent them from biting you! Like you said, they have never bothered me either! I do recommend the Hep A vaccine though!
