MERGED: Avatar and Title Help....

Trying my best, Steve. I even got my laptop wireless, but do to all the dang hills I live few and far between, it will not pick up at my work.. Just here at the house.. I live in a little place that doesn't even have a traffic light. Very few stops signs, and who pays attention to those anyway.. Trying my best though...

Ok, I'm gonna try my best to give some instructions on how to crop, size, and post your avatar at least this is how I do it and I don't have any Photoshop type software.

What you need:

Almost every PC out there has Microsoft Paint in the accessories section of the PC programs.

You will need to create an account (It's free) with either www.photobucket.com (This is what I use) or www.imageshack.com (I don't know if you can resize your pic in this one as I've not used it). For my example here I will be using www.photobucket.com as it is what I use and find it rather easy.

A good picture that you wanna show off to the world.

Ok everyone has all of this now right?

Here is how you do this...

1. Open the picture you wish to use in Microsoft Paint

2. Now use the square w/ dotted lines option this will cut out which portion of the pic you want to use so it doesn't have any unwanted blank space or unwanted objects/people in it.

3. Once you have cut out the portion of the pic you want to use click and drag that section to the top left corner of your page.

4. Now, go to the top where it says Image and click on the option for Attributes, this allows you to crop out the rest of the image so only your picture shows.

5. Once you click on attributes a box will pop up showing the current peramiter's of your pic, adjust (little by little) the width/height options till only your picture shows up w/o the rest of the unwanted image/blank space.

6. Once you have done this you can go to file, save as, and then name the pic whatever ya want and click save.

7. Now open up your intenet browser and go to www.photobucket.com (You must create an account first if you haven't already) now after you sign in you will see at the top where it it says Picture and to the left of the blank there is a button that says Browse.

8. Click on Browse button and go to the file/folder where you saved your pic at and click on the picture and then click open.

9. Now that your file name is in the picture blank go to the bottom of this section and click Submit. This will post your picture on to your account.

10. Go to the picture in your album and above it you will see 3 buttons Move/Edit/Delete, and below the pic you will see the URL/Tag/Img options. URL is what you want to copy and paste into your CC profile for your Avatar.

11. Now go to CC and log in and click on the Profile section, now down at the VERY bottom you will see where it says Link to off-site Avatar:
Enter the URL of the location containing the Avatar image you wish to link to. Ok this blank here is where you want to paste your URL of the picture you selected. and click Submit after you pasted it.

12. Ok, at this time most likely your avatar is Too big and in some cases WAY too large, To fix this I generally have two browser's up at once and in one of them I have CC and the other one I have my Photobucket account up.

13. Bring up a post of yours in the message board where you can see your avatar and it's obviously too big, so now use your judgment about how much you need to shrink it 25%, 50%, or 75% of it's original size and click on the Edit button above your pic in Photobucket, this will give you the option to Resize, keep in mind you may want to adj by 50% or 75% if your picture is not Extremely large and go down little by little till it fits the guideline size cause once you shrink it in Photobucket you can't enlarge it and if you go too small you will have to start over.

14. Ok, now once you have resized it to the appropriate size to fit the CC Avatar guidelines you are DONE!!! Congradulations you have just posted your very own Avatar for everyone to Mock and Make fun of.

On a side note you can also use www.photobucket.com to post pics in a thread Like if ya wanted to post a link to your pic you would use the URL section under your pic like this...

Or if you want to actually post the pic so everyone can see w/o clicking on a link use the Img line under your pic like this...

And if it's too large you can use the resize option under edit to resize so it doesn't annoy ppl w/ REALLY long text lines haha!

And if you want to make a fool out of a MOD or someone you simply take the image into Paint and add something like a crown or something goofy like this....

thats a lot of work

i just upload my photo to photobucket.com and then size it 25% then a 75% then copy and paste the link....that is usually enough to get it the right size...but it made need a bit more than that for resizing...

but good job jlow!

Thanks, I gave a long and drawn out step by step guide for those that have problems or don't have photo editing software on their PC. ALOT of photo's I wish to use have extra stuff in the background or are in need of cropping to focus on the important thing in the pic ME so I use MS paint to crop out the portion I wish to use as an avatar and then I do as you said and upload to photobucket and resize accordingly.
