Im being sent there on monday for 2 weeks, then home for a week, then down for another 2 weeks. I have a feeling things are going to get crazy....

Places to go? people to see? anyone from down there?

If you stay in the French Quarter you'll be okay but like Jason said many of the surround areas are still in bad shape..many still without running water or power.

Hang out on Bourbon Street, go to Preservation Hall to hear great Jazz, hit up Cafe Du Monde for chicory coffee and biengets, try a Hurricane at Pat O'Briens, eat some Cajun/Creole food, check out the French Market, try a muffaletta sandwich from the Central Grocery, have a Po Boy from one of the many places thatserve them, visit the Acme Oyster Company for a great time and great oysters, go to the Tropical Isle for a few Hand Grenades, take the St Charles streetcar through the Garden District....just a few of my favorite things to do in Nawlins.

I'm going in August ~ so bring back lots of stories. I've never been. We (there are about 25+ of us going) are staying in the french quarter. Hand grenades are a MUST I heard :beerdrink:

I'm part of that group too. And it's up to 34 people. :P Some of us went last year too, and had SUCH a great time! Bourbon Street is fun day and night, lots of bars and clubs to go to.

I was there about 3 years ago.
-Take the street car down to the garden district with all the beautiful old mansions. Tulane and Loyola New Orleans is also located in this area.
-Def. hit up cafe du monde for those beignet's.
-There is a harrah's casino there if you like to gamble.
-If you like cigars the New Orleans cigar factory on Decatur is a cool place to visit cause they have guys rolling cigars right in front of you.
