My weight isn't budging since my last weigh-in but I'm not discouraged since I know it's going to take time (without crazy starvation!) since my only change has been to cut out the junk food. Mind you, my junk food I've cut out is probably equal to 1,500 calories(not to mention fat) a day.
cutting out the junk will make a huge difference for you.. but I find the less you have to loose the harder it is so 1 to 2 pounds a week is a reasonable goal.. I think!!

I want it to come off and stay off.. from experience, I have learned that fast weight loss and starvations diet do not work people .. eating healthy and exercising does.. apparently..haha!!
so my goal for this week.. at least 30 minutes of exercise and continue to eat lower carb, higher fiber, lots of salads, fruit and water, and be awear of portion size... and that is not an easy task...especially if you are eyeballing it .. here is an example of what I mean.. whole wheat pasta .. 85g is the serving size.. uncooked is 310 calories.. so just to see I measured it .. and to my surprise... it was not very much.. I would normally have, I would guess, double that to add another 310 calories so total would be the 620 calories.. thats with out the sauce which is 60 calories for 1/2 cup.. with out meat and cheese, and caesear salad and bread with butter or galic butter.. if you were trying to stay around 1200 calories a day.. you would be very close on this one meal..

If I had to give my "unprofessional" advise... it would be watch your servings.. if you are hungry after the smaller portion have something later.. and make it a healthy choice....

cheers!!!
Ok I'm in.. I'll play this game, we just got back and I am really happy to say I didn't gain an ounce on this trip... good thing cause I'm over weight to begin with... and that bugger jeff lost 5 or more pounds, so I'm up for the game in hopes that our next trip I will feel alot better about myself...
Just got to think about how to go about it, I don't usually get home till around 7:00pm start dinner we're eating around 8:00 or later, we're up at 5 am... so trying to find the motivation and time will be the priority i guess..

Hey Deb!!, welcome.. and I hear you, if you read through the thread .. thats an issue for me too but I HATE!! exercising .. as I am sure lots of people do.. my moto is anything is better than nothing as far as exercise goes...not sure if its possible for you but try doing some stairs at work like me .. even once in the morning and once at the end of your day is better than nothing .. and I also try to "giver" on the weekends..lol well thats my intention.. maybe a solution would be for you to prepare some heat up meals on the weekends that you can eat a couple days during the week.. it might free up some workout time .. even 10 or 20 minutes of exersice per day could get you started. Start slow though.. over working it makes you tired.. and the motivation dwindles.. lol

Isn't that the truth! I can get down to my goal weight but the skin will never be what it was. And when I get there I like how my clothes fit but in a swim suit - I have lost my boobs and ass. Then there is also the face thing. As a middle ager - you can lost too much fat and it makes your face look older.

I love exercise - but only certain things. I have gotten to a point where I will only do exercise I love. Just got the XBox Kinect and it's a great work out. Saving up for the Zumba work out. Love lifting the best. Exercise for me is a HUGE stress reliever.

And in the end, I have to realize I am 45 with three kids. Just trying to be the healthiest I can be and feel good. I find lighting to be the key in feeling good, LOL. No bright flourescent lights!!! LMAO

Oh I've read through the thread thats what got me interested... sounds like we both have alot in common.. as for stairs we are on the ground floor at work, so no stairs when I go for the smoke. I do like the idea of preparing meals on the weekend though that would free up alot of time.. and rather than wait for Jeff I could eat earlier... eating so late at night doesn't help I'm sure.. I do have a few stairs at home... guess I could run up and down them a few times in the evening... ah its a start... also I'm really considering buying one of those infra red sauna's anyone heard of them and do they work or help??
We have an extra room in our basement we've talked about turning into a fitness area. Our biggest concern is buying the equipment and end up using it to hang clothes off of... LOL

Welcome Shannon!,yep.. that pretty much sums it up for us middle agers..well, that made me sad to write.. MIDDLE AGER... ...lol. Nothing stops time so you are right in saying as heathy as you can be.. one thing I'd like to mention.. I got the Zumba for the PS3.. not very impressed with it .. I think a DVD Zumba to follow along with would have been better.. but now I have made the investment.. and it wasnt cheap

yes thats always a fear.. but go on Kijji and buy used... as you just mentioned .. lots of good intention equipment sitting around.
Brewster and I have a hard time being on the same eating time frame.. he is a night eater, doesnt eat all day.. .. and I am a day eater and dont eat at night.. lol I dont really think that eating at night or through the day matters.. its calorie intake and exercise no matter which way you throw the dice..

I know what you mean about the exercise room! For me, it's been a waste. I have a 4 bedroom house(for one person and a small dog) so I have one fairly large bedroom with a treadmill, stairmaster, TV, weights. It's conveniently located next to the family room but I never use it. I seem to lack the discipline to even enter that room. I rarely even clean it!!!

We have exercise equipment, that Sherry uses daily, I jump on the exercise bike every so often.

I just don't find exercising fun...lol

SO I weighed in today. My starting weight was 234.8 today I weighed in at 231.9. Not bad, since I drank a lot of beer and consumed a lot of junk on the weekend. Hopefully the trend continues.

This demonstrates my feelings about exercise.
In my neighborhood, we have paved trails for biking and walking. It's really pretty and great for biking. Heck, they even do the Ironman competition(biking) at the end of my street. This year, when they had the Ironman, Romeo, my Bichon Frise and I managed to shuffle to the corner eating a tin of Pringles to check out the guys!
That pretty much sums it up!

LMAO... couples workout!!! never ever could I get jeff to do a workout... that just is to funny trying to imagine it...
No Jeff has a very physical job so to think he would work out with me ain't going to happen.
I didn't gain an ounce this year at Temptations believe it or not... but do want to loose many pounds, and like others have suggested, being middle aged and all i worry about the sagging skin... LOL but i guess I should worry about that if and when that happens.

Dont worry about the skin thing.. I mean .. Im not saying it doesnt bounce back.. just saying its doesnt do it the same.. I think loosing it to fast has the biggest effect on the skin..
So tell me how you managed to be at ttr and not gain.. that is impossible for me ..

Kind of interesting about sagging skin..and being older. My Mom, who is 90, always weighed well over 200 since she was 30. Probably more like 260 when she got sick 2.5 years ago. Never took any medications or was in the hospital since she had her last child. She is still alive (barely) and weighs in around 105. She has loose skin but it is not nearly what I would expect.

never gained enough weight to have hanging skin ...................just doesn't look the same as when I was 25. Just middle aged lady skin. But..............I had cellulite when I was a size one and sixteen. Just the facts..............things change over time.

I got on the treadmill again last night. It's hard to get up the motivation in a crowded garage with only a dusty shelf to look at. But this time I had a good movie on my laptop in front of me with those noise supression headphones.

Before I knew it my target 20 minutes turned into 40! Now I'm looking forward to seeing the last half of the movie and maybe beginning a new one tonight!

And now I want to brag on my wife for a second.

Kim (Partydollgirl) is a remarkable woman in many respects. This thread is an indication. I admire your commitment and determination, Kimmy. Thanks for your inspiration!

I started Insanity today. The fit test kicked my butt. I tore my bicep in july and was off for a good 3 months, and just as I was getting back, we had a bad wreck in November and GCPSgirl broke her neck. We are blessed that the neurosurgeon did a great job and she is already back to work part time and will make a full recovery.

That said, I have not done much working out the past 6 months. Was a pretty rock hard 215 when I tore my bicep. Was 252 on january 1.

Also taking a drink called shakeology....its from beachbody who puts out P90X and Insanity, etc.....back in the gym lifting and the wife is as well too.

Almost 50 now, and I do not recommend letting yourself go a bit. Its soooooo much harder to get it back.....but we will!

Welcome, Jack! Good to hear that you are both headed in a positive direction. That must have been a very scary and stressful time for you both.
I call 50 the other F word! It's really easy to go straight to hell after 50 and it takes so much more effort to keep on track! I know that for women, that is especially true!
I definitely have my days of bad attitude about exercising and eating right! And can do my share of b**** and moan, but in the end, I try harder the next, new day! Not too hard, the older you are, the longer it takes to recover from injury of any type. I wish you both the best for a total recovery!
