I've tried that place TJ. It was nice, tasty. You get a choice of a few different salads to go with the pannini. I thought it was kind of expensive but the portions were pretty big. Huge juices or smoothies.

Ay T.J., the Gladys Kravitz of the hood. ;-)

(And for those of you who have no idea what I am talking about.... Gladys Kravitz - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Back on the food topic, the kid and I regularly eat at Sushi Akky at Plaza las Palmas. If you want SIMPLE (ie, no cream cheese, no extra stuff, just seaweed, rice and fish) sushi, it's the place to go. They have two pages of rolls with extra stuff, but on the back page they have a section for "sashimi and sushi". The Hamachi and Maguro rollls are our faves. The waiters treat us extremely well, the price is good and they have two for one rolls on Wednesday (apparently the rolls we like are not part of the special, but they give it to us as we are regulars).

Flavours to your Door!!!

A restaurant at #23 uxmal (across from Immigration, 2 locals down from the Farmacia Ahorro). Not a cheap place but the food is very good and they have a few "English" specialties such as "Bangers and Mash," Cottage Pie, English pie, and Beef Wellington. You can order online and the food will be ready when you get there or they can deliver it to you. On Sundays, they have a good "carvery." Check out the website.

I was all excited there for a minute but then I saw the prices!!!

I ate a gorgeous carvery in England in a beautiful country pub for 8 pounds, and it was fantastic. So I'm struggling to understand why a carvery in Mexico is 300 pesos or about 16 quid, double the price?

The day I pay 200 pesos for bangers and mash....

Good food for a good price with good service, that's what I want - If I ate there I'd just feel like I was getting royally ripped off.

By the way what's "English pie", although I seem to remember eating some of that once upon at time....

The English aren't very good at coming up with appetizing names for food, are they?

What about 'toad in the hole' and 'spotted dick' - they surely sound appetizing?

If the steaks are good that is cheaper than what I can get at a Supper Club in the States.
On the left side of the menu anyway.

Yeah but it is downtown Cancun, it's not the Hotel Zone. I don't get who they are aiming it because there is no way in hell most English people are going to pay that sort of money for a roast dinner where the meat is not going to be anything like you can get back in New Romney in Kent (dreams for a moment of lambs running through the fields back home ). I can't see Mexicans paying that sort of money so I don't know who will? The price for kids is scandalous too, should be like 50 pesos at the most.

Have to agree, those prices are far too expensive.

If we were to go for Sunday Lunch, with drinks and tip we'd be looking at about Ģ70 or 1300 pesos. Similar thing at home would be about Ģ30 tops and the UK is supposed to be expensive and Mexico cheap.

Restaurants here have always seemed expensive to me, relative to what you get.

We were at Isla Mujeres last weekend and were regularly dropping 1,200 pesos for three diners if we included a bottle of cheap wine, 900 if we didnīt.

Can't remember the last time a bill was over 1000 pesos for us! Think the most expensive we've had was Chilli's at 600 for 2 adults and 2 kids and that never fails to deliver fantastic food everytime.

There are 3 locations:

1. Cheesters Pasta (the original one) is located in the park of SM 31. This is my favorite, but always crowded.

2. Cheesters Pizza is nearby, just off Av La Costa in SM 29

3. And a newly opened 3rd location is at Paseo Cancun (or Outlet Cancun... whatever)

Or just look up "Cheesters Cancun" on Google maps, and they'll show you the first 2 locations.

Keep in mind they're closed Sundays and they close promptly at 11 pm. I'd get there before 10, if I were you, otherwise the kitchen will try to rush you out of there

Bucca di Beppo is coming to the hotel zone. They are usually very popular restaurants in the US. Huge portions are their trademark (especially the meatballs) as is family style dining.

They are in the hiring process now so they should be opening soon.

I can not say it is better then Cheesters, but it is another option for eating if you are in the hotel zone.

We love...

Taco Rigo for tacos
La Farola for Argentinian beef and amazing empanadas
Surfin' Burrito for the best burritos in Cancun
Las Frias for tacos and micheladas
Cheesters for pasta
