The last I heard a few days ago, the wife's body had been flown back to the States. The husband was still in Mexico (unsure where) until DNA testing comes back.

I saw on the news that her sister and mother had flown down to CUN to bring her back to the states. I know everyone is innocent until proven guilty , but come on , everything is pointing towards him. it looks like he hired that attorney in Merida that Duane "Dog" Chapman used when he was in trouble in Mex.

I know that his passport was being held by the Mexican police after he was released. Also that he was being "put up" in a hotel along the strip, but not sure if he is still there.

You're not innocent until proven guilty in Mexico.

Where did you read that? I keep hearing people say it but I have yet to read it in the press.

I'm not sure the cops have the right to keep your passport? Isn't your passport property of the govt that issued it? I mean, I get the common sense in why they would keep it, to try to keep him from leaving, but I'm just not sure I buy that the cops can do it. Though maybe they can't legally do it and did it anyway...

Personally I'm astonished that the guy hasn't been arrested yet. I assume that his lawyer is protecting him with an amparo.

I have read and heard that "Mexican authorites" had this guys passport on many occasions. Here is something recently from ABC New so stating. I think stories as early as April 8 said essentially the same thing.

The requirement of passport surrender is a condition of granting bail to a foreign national in many countries, including the US. "Cops" is a generaliztion. It's the judicial system, by whatever org chart is being used, that holds the passport. It's not locked in some Transito's desk .

So you can be prime suspect in your wifes murder, not be charged with a crime, have your passport confiscated and yet still somehow flee home.

But, go out for a night out. Get into a fight provoked by others and be locked up in a Mexican prison for 8 months without charge.

Something is messed up somewhere.

Just saw online that he's in Beverly Hills right now. Greeeeat.

Apparently it's going to take the judge at least a few weeks to determine if probable cause exists, and right now the family is fighting over custody of the kids (the grandparents aren't willing/able to take them in at this point, so they should be passed on to the husband, but the sisters disagree)

ironic how criminals used to flee the US to mexico after commiting crimes and now they come to mexico to commit crimes and flee to the US to avoid prosecution.

CANCUN, Mexico (AP) — A judge issued an arrest warrant Monday for a former “Survivor” producer suspected in the killing of his wife while on vacation with their children at a Cancun resort, the state attorney general said.

Francisco Alor, the state attorney general in Quintana Roo state, said prosecutors would initiate extradition proceedings soon seeking to return TV producer Bruce Beresford-Redman from the United States.

Here's the latest report. Nothing earth shattering. But what is the escalating hotel violence they are talking about? I have alot of friends in hotels and the only violence I hear about is regarding guest on guest...and supposedly there has been alot since the start of the World Cup.
I am just so pissed this guy was able to leave the County when he is a murder suspect, and poor Free is locked up for fighting.

I think it will be a long time before the U.S. extradites him. if he is extradited I wonder if he will serve time in the carcel penal in Cancun or D.F.? or will he be "detained" in a nice condo ? if Mexico issues the warrant through Interpol , then that has some "teeth" in it !!!!!
