| Looks like my favourite take away in the whole of Cancun is closing down. The kebab place that was on Kabah in the little tent and moved to some upscale Plaza a few months ago ![]() From Facebook: Quote:

| Gutted mate! Devastated in fact! No more greasy goodness! It's a shame he moved there though - he shop was kind of hidden away. Get him to make you one of the big Doner things and we'll cook it up at your house. Falafals were fantastic Rawkus - homemade authentic! |

| Very sad news. Some of the best food in Cancun, but very underappreciated. |

| Mat: Hey buddy. I wanted to try the ones opposite ADO, but when I walked in the guy stared at me for 5 mins, without blinking and I had to repeat my order some 4 times... He still didnt get it... And on top of that, he was mixing the falafels on the same damn spot where there was chunks of meat... defeats the purpose for me, haha ![]() Needless to say, him and his friends were high as h*ll ![]() Would you know another good place?? getting desperate as Im so fed up with quesadillas and fish tacos... |

| Try Sahara's downtown. Great Lebanese Food. Sunday is a great day to go offering an all you can eat buffet. If you like Mediteranean food this is the place. |

I know what I'm having for my tea for the next 5 nights (I might make an exception for Christmas Day, but only because they might be closed). For those that haven't tried them but maybe familiar with doner kebabs, this is not your usual fat ridden, factory processed slop on a spit that you get in England. The meat (lamb) is carefully selected, minced and prepared daily by hand, spiced just right and served on a pita with some tasty sauces and fresh salad. Prices last time were 45 pesos for regular or 65 for large. Rawkus I will see if they are doing Falafels and suggest he does if he doesnt already. | |

| Steve you should start a new thread that says "Good news for kebab fans" We ate at this place the week before it moved locations from the tent. Then once after it moved and really liked it. then it closed...glad to hear its coming back! Something besides tacos is really nice. |

| We went today, I think we were their first customers. ![]() Place is small, two tables only to seat about 8. Good news really since this probably means the rent is quite cheap. It's a few blocks heading out of town from Gran Plaza, on the same side of the street. Prices were the same as before, our bill for 4 including kebab, soft drink and fries was 275 pesos but they would only accept 200. The Kebabs were just as good as before, they had a few problems with the fries since their fryer wasn't heated up and when it was it could only fry one portion at a time. I didn't ask about Falafels Rawkus, the owner wasn't there when we visited it was his Mexican relatives who probably would have no idea what Falafels are. |

| Located right behind the Parque de Las Palapas in Downtown Cancun (just a few minutes walk from the ADO bus station). Good ambience with a nice water feature in the center. Only negative is that I was expecting some more traditional music as background music. Food is good and they have a nice variety to chose from. Prices are reasonable. Good service, clean

| I have to say, we went to the Kebab shop last week and were very dissapointed. The kebab meat was dry and not much of it, the pitta was falling apart and the chips were terrible, soggy and hardly cooked. The Turkish owner wasn't there, it was a couple of Mexican guys i think. Real shame because he used to do the best chips in Cancun by a mile, he said it was because of the oil was the same oil used for cooking the kibis, plus he cooked them until golden brown. I didn't see the kibis (not sure what he called them before but they are like Kibis anyway) on the menu though and they were also nice before. I'll give it another try but it wasn't a touch on before

| Gotta aggree about the Fries....so soggy. But the two times I have been there the Kebabs were pretty good, but I love the garlic sauce, so I loaded it on them, so I could't tell if it was dry. |

| I went once a week or 2 ago. The kebabs were as good as I remembered them to be (although, like Tori, I always pile on the garlic sauce so I might not notice the difference haha). I didn't try the fries because I'm on a diet, but my husband and friends seemed to enjoy them and they didn't look soggy. But Sam is right, the menu was more limited, with no kibis. Not that I mind because I'm only there for the kebabs! |

| Still no word on the falafels? Kibis are the meat-treats that the sellers carry round in a glass box? Good to know that the fries are done with the same oil. I hope the falafels arent dipped in "meat oil" as well |
