Default Playboy Club Open Saturday

Just saw this article about Playboy opening a club in Cancun across from the church in the hotel zone: Alista Playboy apertura - CancĂșn …
Basically it says Playboy will open this Saturday without Hugh Hefner but with Carmen Electra and Mario Lopez as special guests as well as Normand Latourelle, co-founder of Cirque du Soleil, and a DJ Playboy Collen Shannon.

Oh my gosh, I have the hugest crush on Mario Lopez!!!

It's about time... that place has looked ready to open for the last 2 - 3 months.

"Across from the church" hahaha that could be interesting.

So what is a "Playboy Club"? Presumably this is at the old Caliente building?

Another one of those tacky fake casinos but with bunny girls?

Steve - It's yet another tacky casino, and yes, at the old Caliente building.

Not sure about the bunnies, but it seems to me like a Playboy casino with no bunnies is just a regular casino.

And a casino without proper tables, chips and dealers is what we Brits call an amusement arcade.

Seems we need a volunteer to go see! In the beginning, it was going to be a full casino but you know how that goes. Can they? Can't they? My original post on TA is at Playboy Club to Open Soon in Cancun - Cancun Forum - TripAdvisor

So now I am not sure if they are having dealers or not. So who's going to volunteer?

Seems a potentially popular haunt judging by the replies on Trip Advisor, I guess we'll know soon enough.

I dont think I'll be volunteering one of my rare nights out there though

My husband drove by it tonight. They were still working furiously on the entrance area.

I went to the grand opening party last night. The place is actually really nice. It has the same motif as the playboy club in Vegas. There are six blackjack tables, one roulet, and on craps table with real chips and everything.

It seems that they flew in real Playboy girls from the states as well, since Playboy does actually have high standards and an intense training program.

The space takes up part of the old Caliente building. The rest of it is home to the future Centro de Espectaculos where they are bringing in Vegas themed shows like Cirque du Soleil. They actually did a small Cirque performance in the Playboy Club last night. It is all part of the plan to turn Cancun into a mini Vegas to promote tourism.

Does anyone know a contact number for the casino?
Would love to attend the public grand opening. I understand that the Saturday opening was for Invited Guests.

Might see you all there

When I first read Jims article I thought that's just what Cancun needs. Another sleazy club in the Hotel Zone. However am happily surprised on the reviews of the place so far. Hope this idea takes off and keeps the standard of the entertainment high. I'm sure if its a hit every other place will follow. Maybe this will be the reinvention Cancun has been waiting for. Now if they could just sort out the F1 racing too..........

Default Playboy Casino

The Casino is nice. The staff is very friendly and accommodating (whether or not they're taking your money). It has slots, 6 Blackjack tables, Roulette and Craps. It's nicely set up. It's $20 or $250 pesos to get a "membership" card. This is to make sure you can afford to come in and gamble. It's a permanent membership. Drinks are NOT included in your admission. A coke was $36 pesos, 2 beers were $120 pesos...just a bit exorbitant, if you ask me. In Atlantic City and Las Vegas, drinks are included. You're allowed to smoke in the Casino. It's a bit chilly inside (I'm sure alot chillier for the poor bunnies!). That pretty much covers it all....

Looks like the Playboy Club has already been shut down indefinitely. Looks like they got caught up in the lastest government crackdown.
Moviliza a Proteccion Civil supuesto retiro de sellos en Casino Playboy - Grupo SIPSE, sipse.com

Below is the Google Translation:
CANCUN, Q. Roo .- After Civil Protection personnel are mobilized and Control yesterday afternoon before the event notice of the seals closing that were placed at the Playboy Casino had been improperly withdrawn from the Director of Audit, Sergio Esquivel Carrillo, said the site will remain closed until it complies with this requirement.

"The Playboy Casino, definitely did not meet and can not operate until they fix the irregularities," said for his part, Felix Ortiz Villalobos, director of Civil Protection. He added that the amount of the fine that apply to that facility amounted to 58 000 800 pesos. He said that for the Casino Palace, the penalty imposed is 30 thousand pesos.

Ortiz Villalobos, referred to other closures and revisions that have been conducted at the bookies. He said "we did a simulation in Dubai, went well in their documentation and recommendations for improvements and was met. Right now we have pending Plaza Kukulcan, who is in the squares and we have other outstanding Outlets such as the Gran Plaza, but the Department's legal reviews it, "he said.

Civil Protection Director, explained that the Playboy Casino Cancun "has no hydrants, no fire extinguishers, no emergency exit, no signal. Although it has smoke detectors do not work, also has an alarm system that does not work."

In the afternoon the Director of Audit said the closure seals that were placed on Friday remained in place, so the Casino, did not incur other irregularities.

For its part, the mayor of Benito Juarez, Julian Ricalde Magańa said that ensured that the center gambling had not reopened.

The Casino opened on December 5, 2010 and, according to authorities, must cover all observations for the closure is lifted by the Directorate of Civil Protection.
