need info om massage therapy jobs.

hi every one,i am new to the site!!
i am coming to cancun in feb.2012..i have been planning this trip for a while.
every time something would happen and i would have to cancel..
i am wanting to find out about working as a massage therapist in
cancun...any info is appreciated..i would also be nice to have some locals i can contact for info..or to meet some expats while im there.

Welcome to the forum Lisa.

There are lots of spas at the hotels so that may well be your best chance of a job. February is after high season has already started so there may not be too many jobs around by then.

It's going to be near on impossible to get a job before actually arriving so I'd suggest you buy the newspaper Novedades when you arrive, there are lots of jobs advertised there.

I don’t think you can do it legally and if you do find a way, you won’t be paid too much.


I know someone that is licensed in the US and when they arrived they managed to get a position at a 5 star resort under the table.


The pay was something like 80 peso’s to show up for the day (about 10 hours). Then they would have to go out and hustle to find clients on the resort grounds. The clients would pay about $120usd for their massage and she would be paid about $10usd for her efforts.



She also tried working at one of the off resort spa’s, but was bombarded by creepy guys expecting happy endings. Needless to say, she found another form of work.


You would almost be better to try and establish a client base of your own, but this of course would not be legal or help you with your papers. The going rate for a massage is about 300/350 peso's an hour down town here.
