60 YOA? INAPAM card

Foreign residents of Mexico who are at least 60 YOA can get the Federal Government issued INAPAM card.

Among the discounts it gets you is a savings on property taxes, of up to 50%, depending on which municipality you live in.

Are you paying attention, T.J.?

It also gets you in free, to any of Mexico's national parks.

Transportation: Holders of the card who use the UltraMar ferry to Isla Mujeres pay just 25 pesos, whereas most adult passengers pay 70 pesos for the same, one way fare. They also get a 50% discount on intercity bus fares!

The card's a little trouble to get, but worth it, if you enjoy saving money, sometimes in surprising ways, in Mexico.

We are traveling in Central Mexico and the INAPAM card has gotten me 50% discounts on luxury bus travel, and free admission to all the state and national museums, plus 50% discounts on the private ones. No one has refused to honor it.

It is not a lot of money, but its fun to get the discounts!
