For anyone thats interested, there are at least 3 decent sized(1.5 - 2 meters, approx) crocodiles in the small lagoons on the right hand side when walking towards the high-rises in the end of the Puerto Cancun road. The part that runs pretty much parallel to the HZ running track. Had a good 1.5 hours of croc viewing today. Amazing creatures. If you bring dog/dogs, be careful as a fully grown Doberman got taken 6 days ago in the same spot. And obviously: Keep a decent distance to the waters edge. Where there are rocks and where its steep, you are safe, but where there is a beach-like spot, do not approach the waters edge. This week Im going back, hopefully to get some photos of these remarkable creatures. ![]() Im happy, as I thought theyd killed all of them in the Puerto Cancun area.

Managed to sneak up on the female today. (Seems to be a pair, rather than 3..) Got fairly close, around 0.5 meters from her, before she noticed me and took off. Encountered the male later, and I must say that he is bigger than I first thought... Probably closer to 2.5 meters and fairly wide. Ill get a pic of him the next time, for sure.

Great photo Rawkus! Can you post a google map of where we can find them when you have time? How do you know which is female and which is male?

Mat: Its the funny shaped lagoon/canal with the red circle around it. Its inside the Puerto Cancun area. Enter from either Bonampak or Blvd Kukulcan(HZ) ![]() The male is the larger of them. He took off as soon as I approached the lagoon, whilst she stayed put, long enough for me to snap a photo and 1 15 second clip, haha. Shes of decent size, but he is just BIG ![]() I suggest that you do not bring the dog when/if you go to check them out. And also, always have objects between you and the croc/crocs. Preferably be on higher ground than the critters and only approach the water where its steep. Ill tag along if you want me to.

| Wicked mate!! Goes to show how close they really are! I haven't seen one yet since i've lived here but my wife used to do the Kayak tours and went right past a massive one in the main lagoon. That's a cool shot, not sure if i'd be that close! :0

Sam: Indeed Apex predator, which we need to take care of. I made sure to have the odds on my side when sneaking up on her, haha. ![]() Love these beasts. Worked with them for a few years in Australia. No fear of them, but MASSIVE respect.
