Anyone know if the new procedures are in place yet?

Don't seem to be....

The staffs of the various offices have undergone some training on the new rules, supposedly.

I'm expecting there to be an announcement in the official INM website when they are ready to begin using them.

I took a copy of Article 162 into INM the other day, along with my FM3. I asked what it meant to be a "Residente Permanente" as was shown in the Article 162, SEXTO, VI.

They told me that if I had an FM2 I was considered a Permanent Resident. I asked if Permanente meant like Siempre and he told me it did.

When I pointed out that my FM2 had an expiration date of one year from its issue date so I guess since I was a Residente Permanante that the expiration date was not to concern me. You see where this is going. Ultimately he told me that Permanent did not mean Permanent, nor did it mean always or forever, and in fact it was a misnomer that should not be in the law of the land. Of course I knew this going in but wondered if perhaps I did not have to renew annually, a righteous question. Remember that foreign car permits show an expiration date but don't really expire as long as the owner of the car is legally here.

I played the guy for a bit, then we shook hands and I left, but only after introducing myself as _____________ ____________ insert the real name of Rawkus here, which I know and he knows I know. Sorry Rawkus, but you are so screwed now at INM.

Does anyone know the cost to renew a FM2 (for a US citizen - if that makes a difference)?

YOU guys are the ones that havent touched it for this long, and now managed to misplace it? I have no words nor energy left for what I think of that piece of **$#$* place, haha.

I think it's $2800 a year. I haven't done it since last summer so it's hard to remember exactly, it might be a little less.
