just to follow on from the previous post we were able to get the riu cancun to photocopy our licence and passport and that was good enough to be acceptable where we hired our golf carts from and the one was enough to secure 2 carts from and no problems regards losing your real credentials

We usually stay at Temptations.. 4 times, this last time we took the time to check out the island... we were so impressed and loved it very much. We rented mopeds and had a blast. Our next trip we are thinking of splitting our time, one week at Temptations and the other on the Island, we've heard they have great prices on hotels, and as said before the food is fantastic and the people seem so much nicer.

These are awsome, we were there for one of the cruises, they only give you about an hour, we were so impressed with the island that we went back the next day. We rented mopeds and went from one end to the other... however we didn't see this. That island is so small and so much to offer... can't wait to go back, this is great!!

Thank you, I can almost feel the sand... the sun on my face, and the smells and the wonderful people they define the saying mexican minute.. I can't wait to go back. When we were there we rented mopeds and when we got back had a bit of a time finding the guy that rented them to us, he was found playing poker on one of the boats, me being from a crazy stressed out world was a bit stressed, but you just have to take a step back and realize... this is Mexico...then off we went for a wonderful early dinner, fresh fish, lobster, cold beer and watched the sun set...Ohh sigh...

Can anyone give more info on renting a moped, or a bike? Like how much it costs? I've also read that they have a public bus. Is that a good way to get around the island?

Thanks!

Can't remember the exact numbers on the scooters, but I paid 100 pesos for one hour's use, as I recall. Longer sessions are cheaper, per hour.

You can scoot around at sane speeds, and see the island in an hour, if that's your aim. Taxis would be cheaper transportation, if you're going to be out a while, and you're planning to travel point to point, like to Garrafon Park.

The buses would mainly be a novelty for tourists, as they don't run frequently enough to offer a serious alternative to taxis which, if you get the official rate, are not overly expensive- costing more than in Cancun, but less than in the hotel zone: 30-50 pesos is the range I recall, with fares set according to distance.

I can't remember the exact cost but it was so worth it. We each rented one, for the day, we only used it for a couple hours and that was our decision. I would recommend the scooter because you can stop and go, check things out where and when you want and for us they were more fun than a golf cart...however saying that when I think about the idea of riding around in a golf cart.. my husband doing the driving I would have been able to look around more, there is so much to see and cannot wait to go back. I know that we didn't see everything, the island is small but has so much to offer and see.
