Need advice on where to stay

My husband and I are coming for our second trip to Riviera Maya. Last time we stayed all of one night, as our daughters, 15 and 18, that were with us, did not like the fact that there were so few young people at the Grand Oasis Riviera Maya. We were only ok with the resort ourselves, and had just come for a few days to try it out, having spent our last two visits to Mexico in Cancun. So, now that we are coming back just the two of us, we are hoping to find an AI resort, on a nice, swimmable beach, within walking distance to 5th Ave.

We aren't picky, but, we do like good food, so, more than one restaurant would be preferred. We do not need nightlife, or partying, it's a romantic getaway. Just want to spend time enjoying the beach, swimming, maybe a bit of snorkeling. We had thought about the RIU Palace, or the Gran Porto Real, or the Sandos. Any thoughts.

Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal has very good food, great beach, nice pools.....a family place, but generally not overrun with kids.....short cab ride to 5th Ave...

We really like the Sandos, but its a rather long walk to 5th avenue.....and there are kids there, but not overrun with them. If you don't want to break the bank, I was thinking the Riu Palace as well. Much more romantic than Sandos for sure, and much closer to 5th avenue as well. Great beach as all of them are in Playacar.

That would be my choice....it is a beautiful place and sounds like its exactly what you are looking for.
