| Hubby and I are considering trading in the craziness of Cancun during spring break weeks for the beautiful Riviera Maya. We fell in love with the non-fussy, authentic charm of the Akumal Resort. Anyone been there or going? Comments.... |

| The "Akumal Beach Resort"? We stayed there once and we loved it. We are not particularly fancy so it suited us just fine. Food was ok, staff was fantastic, lots of activities if that's your thing or you can just hang out and do nothing. The best is the snorkeling right off the beach, go north a bit towards "the main beach" and you'll find lots of sea turtles and rays. You can also go to the Yal Ku Lagoon (a drive through Akumal) for some fantastic snorkeling. We would definitely go back here. (We were there in 2009, so not sure how much things have changed)

Thanks... we didnt realize it would be this difficult for us to chose a hotel lol. I love the non-fussiness of the Akumal Beach Resport but we are also thinking about doing the 5 apple square deal and taking our chances on a 5 apple for almost the same price. Has anyone done a 5 apple? I've heard mixed review but we've only heard wonderful things about the ABR. | |
