Cheap eats in playa

Where can I go for "comida corrida" (food of the day) in the playa area where the locals eat? Also if there are other inexpensive(but clean, no carts) places to eat thanks for the info!

Your best bets for commida corrida are the small little restaurants on 30th avenue. North of Costituyentes, 30th Ave (the main street through the old neighborhoods) becomes "real" Mexico with interesting little shops and dirt cheap but wonderful meals. Stroll along until you see (or smell) something you like.

Closer to the tourist zone on Constituyentes near 30th Ave (right across from the Mega store) you will find two great parillas or grills: El Fogon and HC Monterey. Both feature great grilled meats for reasonable prices. HC is famous for it's Arrachera (marinated flank steak) and Fogon is famous for it's Tacos Al Pastor (marinated pork barbequed on a rotating spit).

Thanks tony and cheri I was getting hungry just by reading your post. We are not staying at the all-inclusives(by choice) and know the best food and culture is at the local eateries where the locals eat. So thanks for the suggestions, we look forward to checking out those areas.
