Default Have you used P90X?

We're planning on buying it this weekend and getting a fitness program started....were bored with what were currently doing (or not doing lol) and want to try something different and challenging...

Says 90 days to a new body, so hope it can make even a small difference in 6 weeks when we go to TempTation!

Has anyone tried it or know anyone who has? Any thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

I'm doing P90X right now.

it's great. Honestly I have had struggles making time to do it 6 days a week and even worked so hard that I made myself sick for a week.

But if you make sure you keep pressing play and do your best and forget the rest.. you'll do fine.

Yes, I would defiantly recommend it.
I'm in week 13 and it defiantly made a difference. i didn't commit to the diet portion, so my results are not quite what you see on TV, but I did loose 2+" around my waist. And I was only a 34 to begin with.

I am going to start another round, with simply up-ing my rep's and weights to continue also.

You should be in reasonably good shape before you start. There is a list of exercises at the front of the manual (not sure if it is on line or not, that you should be able to do before starting the program)

Showing up is half of it. 6 weeks can make a difference.

p.s. I am about to order the P90X+ to help change up the routine.

we've both done it. We like it. A nice change of pace from our gym routine every 6 months or so. If you want to really get the great results, its all about following the diet, but its that way with everything. You can lift and cardio all you want, but if you can't quit eating burgers, pizza, pop and beer multiple days a week, you won't get the rock hard abs, lol.

I can't quit that stuff *L*.. it's too good.. but making sure that you have them in moderation is important.

I'd say if you're not going to follow the diet then your key focus for eating should be portion sizes and making your own food. Cutting back on the large meals and eating out will take you a long way.

Wow thanks for the info guys, thats very motivating...well not sure how good of shape im in, ive had 2 trainers in the last year that have kicked my ass and i was able to keep up well...im only working out 1x a week right now, i def need to kick it up...my BF's goals and mine are different though, I want to lose and tone, and will definately follow the diet, i dont think he will though, he loves to eat junk. He's very lean, wants to build up, maybe gain 10 lbs of muscle. Ok look at our toga pic in our profile so u get an idea of what were working with lol..
I'm getting excited now, this is motivating reading others opinions on it...I just hope to be able to make it thru a whole workout..

I just started reading a book about diet and portion control but I accidentally overturned my taco salad on it and then spilled my beer on it trying to rescue it... oh, well....

The only thing I can make out now is "Foods You Can Eat:"...which I am taking as permission....

While I personally haven't used P90X a couple of our guy friends have. They both have great things to say about it. Appearance wise they slimmed down and toned up.

I have used it and i lost 13 pounds. Then again i also rode my bike to work, lunch, and on my way home. So tons of cardio and with P90X then it will do you wonders.

FloridaFun,

You've got plenty to work with girl! P90X, a good diet, and some extra cardio on lifting days will get you were you want to be very quickly. If you want it bad enough, don't put it off!

P90x will kick your butt! Unfortunately, I had back surgery over the winter and when I tried it, I really aggravated it, so I had to stop (and just go back to normal gym stuff), but my better half is going to start her second round of it in a week or two!

I didn't realize just how out of shape I am until I ATTEMPTED to start P90X. I have 30 days before I show up at TTR, and I'm goin gto try it one more time.

Plyometrics will kick your butt... but to be precice, it's going to KILL your quads... during the warm up...

Kenpo reminded me of just how in shape I was when I was really deep into martial arts.

I got used to the chest routine quicker than any other, only 2 times and I could do it without being too sore the next day.

With a decent diet, I should be able to get rid of 20-30lbs by the time I get to TTR.

You guys can both get your own goals met out of P90X. There are 3 different programs. A lean one for you, A bulk up one for him and a doubled up bulk up program for those crazy people that like to work out twice a day *L*

OK good, that's what I wanted to know...we didnt buy it yet, his laptop blew up with a virus so we were dealing with that all weekend....Question though, we want to do it together at the same time a few times a week, would we be able to do the different programs that way? He was talking about me having different pound weights than him and more reps, etc...I want to get more cardio in too, does P90X even have cardio or do i have to do it on my own?

Every other day is Cardio. There are (3) different programs within P90X. But you can also use less reps and lighter weights to achieve lean instead of muscle mass. You can easily tailor this workout to fit your needs.

hello happu utah here.yes we both used it for a while. It was my sons and he has moved out. But it does work. take it easier at first becuse it will kick your butt. the yoga is very amusing, if you arent really limber, it can be harder.

you should be able to get lean results from the bulk up program by doing more reps with lot less weight when you have weights.

I have not used this one , but I have been doing the abs diet workout for a while now and it has 3 stages. I have lost 22 lbs and 2inches off my waist. 3x per week. I have since upped the ante and pause the cd to allow me more time to do more reps. I do other workouts on alternating days and belong to a boxing gym so I use the heavy bag also. Just a thought if you cannot devote 6 days a week.

I will have to research the abs workout, that sounds great!

We are on week 3, now we didnt buy the P90x, we have Insanity instead, but it looks wayyy intense, so my BF (who used to be a trainer and owned a gym), customized several workouts for me from P90X and Insanity, we do about 40 mins a nite, 5x a week and boy what a workout, I'm sweating, sore and exhausted afterward...I feel better too...I feel like ive lost a little already..
