Missing Your Flight

So, due to money issues I'm buying my trip at the last minute. Every day it goes up by about $100. Today, it just passed the amount of money I will have in my account on Tuesday. Here is what I'm thinking...

Booking a shorter vacation package (that I can afford with what I have on Tuesday) Saturday to some day earlier than Saturday. Then just changing my flight and extending my trip a couple days. I am getting my taxes back *while* I'm in cancun.

Ideas? Here are the things I'm concerned with:

Flight - the Jet Blue guys says $100 plus the price difference...which seems almost reasonable.

Room - I'm booking through expedia and it shows the room (1 person) at $250 a night - would I still be able to get a price like that at the resort for extra days?

What else do I need to worry about?

Actually, the resort has the same price per day ($242) as Orbitz. I would be booking through Orbitz because they use Jet Blue, which has the cheapest flight to cancun AND flies direct! Woot Woot!

This is going to work out. I'm determined.

That's an odd amount - I plugged it in and it took $117 off. ?!?

I'm on school break from noon on the 18th to 7am on the 27th. It has to fit between there, and I'm trying to stay in Mexico the WHOLE time.

Because the whole thing is cheaper when you buy a package. If i book the same flight/hotel separate, it tends to be more money - and that discount is on more than just one side of the flight. I am looking at that option though.
