Just diagnosed yesterday with bronchitis (I thought it was just allergies). Leaving for TTR Cabo this Saturday! Im on 10 days of antibiotics (Im on day 2). This totally sucks. Im worried that I will be in a lot of pain when flying because of sinus pressure and that I wont be able to drink bc of being on the medication. Im just hoping I feel better by Saturday! :-(

Going up won't be a problem, however when the plane descends, if your sinuses are swollen and plugged, your ears won't pop. Then, about an hour after you land and you've been walking around in a fog and everything you hear will sound like you're in a tunnel, then there will be a loud pop in your ears that will hurt but the pressure will finally be relieved and you'll be able to hear again. (If you haven't guessed, it happened to me once). So, if you still have symptons prior to flying, take a degongestant to try and relieve the pressure. The over the counter cold and allergy medicine (with ephedrine) won't cure your bronchitis but they will help mask the symptoms, which in this case, is what you want.

Great, thank you. I will def pick up Sudafed or something. Anytime I have even a slight stuffy nose while flying, on descent it feels like someone shoving an ice pick up my nose bc of the pressure on my sinuses! Why is on descent only? Ugh, not looking forward to this. I really hope the decongestant works.

We generally don't like the spray in decongestants but this is one of the perfect applications for them maybe even over the tablet form. Pack the spray bottle in your limited size ziploc and take it right to the gate. Use it in both nostrils 15 minutes before boarding trying to snuff it back in your nose as far as you can. With the 12 hr kind you should be fine until you hit the resort.
