| On a recent trip my cell phone would not activate, so I decided to try the credit card pay phones. I had a one minute call to do , how bad could it be right? The phone was in the hotel hallway.... Try $34.50 us for one minute. Called credit card company , nothing they can do cause after some crackled message in Spanish, it made it legal Learn from my mistake, borrow some else's cell and pay the $1 @ minute

We a;ways buy the calling cards in the gift shop and use them at the pay phones around the resort. Not a bad deal at all.

Ouch! Hate the way some companies operate like that. How do they sleep? Just to be clear this was a pay phone at TTR in Los Cabos rather than Cancun, I presume? Not saying the pay phones in the hotel are any better in Cancun. My advice would be similar to Cuppies - if you have to use a pay phone buy a card from the gift shop and use the ones in the street, it may be noisy but you wont get ripped off like that. On a similar note beware of in hotel ATM machines that also often charge a hefty fee for their use. If you dont want to use a pay phone in the street, ask about Intl rates using the hotel room phone. At least then you have some recompense as you can argue it on check out.

I stayed at the hotel from 11/27-12/2. I used the phone in my room and followed the instructions listed on the phone. I made 2 calls both under 1 minute. The front desk told me calls from my room using a credit card were $2 per minute. When I got back home and looked at my credit card statement I saw two charges for $41. I am trying to dispute the charges but cannot find any official phone rate list for temptations.

Im from Canada and take my cell phone down, I put a plan on for when I am there, use it sparingly, but my bill was still $450.... Good thing it is a company phone.
