Do you still have to pay for it?

I couldn't find a wifi signal from my room, so I just used my phone (verizon) which had great reception.

It's 15 bucks a day, which is highway robbery, but I was able to use my iPhone with Skype to call home for free. We were just off the courtyard near the sports pool, and I could hit the signal just fine from our room. But, it's a lot closer than most to the lobby where I'm assuming the signal is based.

Default internet

$5.00 for 30 min in the lobby but make sure you use it when everyone else is not. I think it slows down when all the resort puters are running. Try the weekends late in the day

Just so I'm clear. Is Wireless internet access in the room $15 per day?

Verizon said that texting would be 25 cents per message but would still like to use the computer as well.

premier members get internet access in their rooms for free. Pain in the ass to actually get it, but you will finally get it. And if you are sta;ying for longer than 1 week be prepared to be shut off and have to start all over again.

The last I understood, anyone who was not premier members could get access int heir room for 15 a day. Agree highway robbery. But I did notice a gentlemen in the paty o bar area with his lap top and I assume that he was getting a signal. Not sure, but assume cause he was on his computer for a really long time, like 3 or 4 hours.

I think it all depends on where you are willing to look for a signal. Im sure you'll be able tofind one, just where is the question.

You can only get one connection per room, which will be the first device you log in with. I logged in with my Iphone and then found I couldnt log the laptop. Being free to Premier members I got them to give me a second access for the pc, I would guess they might charge a second $15 for others.
I havent taken neither phone nor laptop out of my room, the access in the rooms by the Diegos pool is 4 bars strong but could be patchy elsewhere.
The speed is somewhat throttled, it has a very high latency and only about 100k speed, i.e. slightly better than dial-up. Skype works but only just. Dont even try to stream any audio or video.
There is also a laptop available for Premier members to check e-mail etc free of charge in the Premier office.

FANTASTIC - Review of Temptation Resort & Spa, Cancun, Mexico - TripAdvisor

There is also a small internet café 5 minute walk from the hotel across the street for the pirate ship that were you can spend about 10 minute emailing back home for about 1 us$ of 12 pesos, at the hotel it cost 5 us$ and at the small corner store 100 feet from the hotel about $2.50

Others have said it's cheaper to get an international plan for a one time fee...$5.99 I think? Also, to make sure you shut off your data roaming otherwise you will still get charged a crazy amount per MB. There should be an older iPhone thread with the details.

.Yes there is a one time fee of $5.99, but there is also a per minute charge. The 5.99 just makes it cheaper

Yes yes....The one time fee does not mean unlimited minutes. Thanks for the clarification. It does however cut the rates tremendously. I don't remember the exact rates ($.39 a minute calls and $.59 texts I believe) but another cancuncare couple said they only made a handful of calls and read a few emails and a month later recieved a bill for over $300 for the week they were in Mexico. (unsuccesfully tried to find the thread, sorry) They suggested the international plan and if you must get email use the service near the resort or at the resort itself. And Don't use your apps that require the 3G network and if they have auto push notifications make sure to shut them off.

Shit I'm on vacation...don't have to tell me twice. hah hah

As far as I know, the wifi isn't free in the lobby. Your best bet is to put your iPhone in "airplane mode," but if you still want to be able to make calls...disable data roaming so you don't incur insane data charges.

I used mine in airplane mode, dialed into the resort wifi...used Skype to make calls when I needed to. The best part about it, was nobody could call me, but I could call them.
