Trip Report for 1/11-18

There is no way I can do a day by day trip report as the days just seem to run together. I do remember on Day 1, we arrived and got through the airport with ease….got to BBG and we got the same room we had last year, just one floor down. Nice room but pretty far away from anything which involves lots of walking. Only big complaint though is our phone NEVER worked. We got 5 different phones and not one of them worked and as we were there with friends it was kind of a pain (as you will find out not the only pain!). We got our rooms, met up with Mike and Tina, got some lunch and then went to the Sexy Pool bar where we instantly met a couple from Wisconsin (sorry cannot remember names but remember Reedsville). Back to rooms to clean up, drink way too much, met Barkley and join in Casino night…not planned at all and I might have gotten a little wild LOL. Back to room and a drunken woman decides to take a shower…..seemed like a good idea until I got my toe stuck in the sliding door thingy and broke my foot. Yep broken foot on day #1!!!

After that the days kind of run together. On Friday we met a lot of great people (Kevin and Bridgett were a blast, even if they are Bears fans!) and made it our goal to find out if Barkley scored the night before (his story to tell). It seemed there were a lot of ppl from WI there and with our Packer gear it was a great way to meet them. We went to Senor Frogs (broken foot not stopping me!!!) and went to bed very not sober again. Saturday we just chilled around the pool and then Nice Shoes where Laurie and Mike found us and introduced themselves (they had checked out the board and even though they had problems signing in had seen our pictures).

As I said days started running together and not sure what days we did what. We did not participate in any of the games due to me not being very mobile, but hung out at the sexy pool and had fun in the sun. (Hi Tim and Kathy…glad we met you) Crazy Darts (should be called Insane Darts) was a hoot and thanks to Mr New York (OMG did you see the size of that thing) the women were very happy!!! Anything Goes started out with a room full of people and as the rules were explained ended up with about 30 people per side, with everyone having fun. We had an afternoon at the swim up bar drinking way too many shots (Javiar rocks), but did not let that slow us down (well most of us!) The greatest kept secret, in my opinion, is the alternative bar. We started each evening there and the bar tenders there are great….thanks Johnny and Alex……we hated to see Alex go to the Chinese restaurant but it was great to get to hang with Johnny too.

We all had a good time, got drunker than we should have and met a lot of great people… especially those wonderful Canadians (Laurie and Mike rock…fun to watch Barkley hook up and not forgetting Cindy and Birk!!) Getting home was not so great as our truck had been broken into and was not driveable. Tina and Mike ended up renting a car so they could get home that night and Kevin and I stayed another night so we could get insurance straightened out and leave our truck 150 miles from home. First stop at home was ER….yep not one but 2 broken bones in foot and now out of commission for a few weeks, but it was worth it.

We will definitely be back to BBG!!!

Quiet pool, we sat there for 5 minutes....couldn't take the silence had to get over where the music was.

Laurie and Mike, we'll see you guys in 2 years...promise!

I will never tell Javier that "I just cant seem to catch a buzz today" coz I dont remember much after that.

Our room was awesome after I got over the fact that it wasn't a "new" room but it was huge huge huge and really we were in it to get clean, sleep and "get dirty" other than that, it didn't matter. Lotsa people getting bumped and was just overly grateful it wasn't us.

Only hmph factor.....not enough Chinos, absolutely love Alejandra, Lynn is awesome, Jose is fun....but honestly, Chinos is the man and he was missing from a lot of stuff that could have been just sooooo much better if he was doing it! But only a hmph factor, definetely didn't stop us from droppin drawers to add to the collection of suits for Mr Blue Bay!!!

Nice Shoes bar redone is the absolute BEST.....last april when we were there, we missed the opening by days.....but those of you who have missed it last time....its bigger, better and it just plain outrocks the old one! We could have spent every night there instead of going out to senor frogs and coco bongo.....which by the way....both lose their "wow" factor a lot the 2nd time around. Anything goes, people its NOT a big deal, I gotta tell you its honestly not a big deal!

We came, we outdrank and we outlasted most that stood in our way that week!

We'll see you next year!

That is one thing i forgot to add to my extra blurb on catrina's TR.....this girl rocks!!!!

The very 1st night she breaks her foot, and NOTHING stopped her, we danced on every bar we could, barstools, walked everywhere, went shopping, danced in the cages, she was up on her foot constantly and never not ONCE complained!!!! There are very few people I know that would have done that and still partied like a rock star for the rest of the week!!!!

lol....asked her a million times if she was o.k.....she said yep, advil and beer, took her till she got home to sober out enough to feel the real pain and went in to find out what the real damage was!!

We were there from the 15'th until the 21'st. It was our first time to BBG but we have been to many all all inclusives all over the Caribbean.

For the money we thought the food and overall resort was nice. My wife was ill through the trip so she couldn't get into some of the excitement but I did and found some very amusing.

Our major complaint was trying to find a place to sit after dinner. They need to do one of two things.
Get rid of the beds by the bar off the lobby and add more tables and chairs or open more bars

Fighting over bar stools is not my idea of a fun time

I did hear other people complaining about the same thing with repeaters thinking they had an assigned seat.

Did you try the Alternative Bar? We went there after dinner each night and even though the bar is quiet it was a nice place to relax a bit and visit. Also we did not hesitate to ask if we could sit with someone if they had open chairs at their table in Marguaritas or just headed to Nice Shoes and sat on the benches.
"Repeaters" vs "Blue Bracelets" is not something I noticed....maybe because I failed to look at arm bands but the person while I was there. We hung out with people that had never been there, people that this was their annual vacation place, premier members and people that went Silver-the only way I really knew was by asking them. And when we got there they were out of black bracelets so our friends (3rd trip) got a blue band for the first day. What I am trying to say is forget the bracelet...meet the people and have fun!

The band color had nothing to do with it. What happened to us was one night my wife and I were standing near the bar between the lobby and the buffet when we saw someone get up and leave. He left no drink or anything else to make it appear he was coming back. My wife took the seat and I stood behind her and ordered drinks.

5 minutes later he comes back, takes me to the side and said he was sitting there and if my wife was only going to have a drink and leave it was no big deal. He also said that the "regulars know the rules".
I told him I agreed there was a problem here but it was with the lack of seating not me and he should take it to the front desk.

I found the whole episode upsetting and after a drink we both went back to our rooms.

Color of bands had nothing to do with it. I have no idea what color he had or care. I also paid for a seat.

Like I said, we did have a good time but we heard other people having the same problem. It wasn't just us.

Ok I would have been a little miffed too, but glad to hear overall you had a good time. We never really tried to sit at the bar at Margaurita's as we were in a larger group and there was no way there were going to be enough seats, so we just used the round loungers.

bar rule no. 2b. any one who leaves said bar stool without notifying others to save his or her place, or leave a drink, ( not less then 1/4 full) relinguishes his or her intitlement to said stool. unless they are passed out at foot of said stool , then ownership still applies. If no one told you he was they're then he might have been an individual of no standing. By the way great pics, do not meen to hijack topic.

We never paid much attention to the color of bands(we've had blue,siver and gold) We just get to Margaritas early and grab a couple of seats,then when one of use excuses ourselves to go somewhere we lean the chair forward and save it for each other. Never had a problem with that.I tend to agree if someone is alone,finishes his drink and leaves and doesn't return in a reasonable time he will lose that seat. shouldn't be any problem.
