Default all day drinking training

Was wondering what procedure everyone uses leading up to your trip on getting yourself ready to drink all day every day?

I assume most visitors don't drink like that at home, so there has to be some drinking excercises leading up to it ie stretching your beer opening finger, doing 3 sets of Bud Light 3 times a week, ect. :D

Have some fun with this one!!!

before i met T it was a easy - as i drank pretty much every night for the 6 years i was single you know those years inbetween being married to my hideous bitch ex wife and then my now sho nuff ho wife T

during those 6 single years.............i even went on a trip to mexico one year.............and i had become some immune to drinking and sleeping at that point that honestly (no embellishing on this one i promise) slept 9 hours for 3 days and 3 nights..........

when i go now........

hell the last few trips ive been a complete buzz kill going to bed many nights at ten

i think maybe reading the other guys post i can learn something here as well

.............PACE YOURSELF and take a case of nexium for the acid reflux

maybe that will work

R  B

I agree Rob!! My intentions are good... But seems like my body can only handle the pace of Temptations every other day. The odd day I go to sleep around midnight. Still have a blast every day!!! Just ends early some days.

I havent been to TTR yet (1st time december 20th) but I have done a lot of drinking, specifically a fair share of binge drinking (what else is college for).
Some of my personal stand by's if Im going to be partying heavily for a week:
-ibuprofen prior to falling asleep
-big greasy meal before bed
-gravol as needed
-at least 2l's of water before bed

Personally whenever I drink heavily while at home in cold and windy Saskatchewan, I always always wake up crazy hungover and swearing to lay off the sauce for awhile. I find that when I'm on vacation, its like my brain tells my body "alright, this it it, your gonna have to step it up for one week, give me one week!" and I somehow can rev at atleast a 8/10 for the majority of the trip.

ALL RIGHT CLASS BE SEATED, MEXICAN DRINIKING 101 BEGINS NOW
HAHA , yeah I wish i knew the best answer, two months before my first trip to cancun, like ten years ago, I drank nothing but Corona and jose cuervo, cuz my dumb ass thought both of them would be the staple drinks of mexico, it got to the point that i was drinking almost a case of corona on a given weekend night and a few shots in between. and about a 6 pack a night during the week....
Finally arrival day in cancun, two month of practicing, I had practiced so much there was constant alcohol content in my blood stream...Me and my four buddies, stroll up to the bar as if we are about to own this BIATCH.... "cinco cervezas and cinco tequilas senor, gracias" heres to mexico boys, slammed that tequila .....
Ran to the bush next to the bar and threw it right back up, like the vagina that I was....
Practice may make perfect, but can not prepare you for some mexican off the wall no name tequila..... Think before you order
ha ha ha

The majority of a hangover is dehydration. Last time I was there, I brought a 52oz. Bubba Keg for water. I drank at least five of those every day starting at breakfast. Just had it next to our chairs and drank the water in between beers, etc. You may have to go to the restroom a lot more, but it definitely worked for me. I usually drink at least 32oz. of water before I go to bed when I'm at home drinking too.

Just like everyone said, the bottom line is pacing. But don't forget to hydrate.

3 extra strength Tylenol bed befor bed (that's if you deided to go to bed, otherwise about the time you should have gone to bed) and a Gatorade in the morning to rebalance your electrolytes. Second the keep hydrated.

The other thing is I don't drink before dinner. I know.. whip! But I find I really don't need it during the day and don't miss out at night as it moves into the next morning or when I have to leave the bar downtown at 5 AM to get back to the hotel because I'm the towel bitch this morning. So that's how I pace myself.

OK NTVB, smart @ss trivia, and the occasional slammers with friends don't count.

Default all day drinking training

Water by the bedside while sleeping, a killer breakfast the next morning...followed by a short nap at the beach! I'll be good to go for the rest of the day...and night:0)

We got to TTR fairly frequently, so we are forced to maintain our rigorous drinking training schedule all year long. Actually there is not much training in the cold part of the US that will prepare you for a long day of drinking in Cancun. A football tailgate plus an NFL game followed by more drinking on the way home is a god start for your training. Do you have any college aged friends or relatives that may be potential great workout partners? You will probably have to buy, but they may be great help.

Watching which booze goes in our drink or shot is also a great idea, as the bottom shelf booze is really bad. Their better stuff is not too bad, and great in relative terms.

Not really training related, but there is usually a time in late afternoon that you need to decide if you want to stop and take a nap before dinner and the activities, or just try to drink on thru for the rest of the day. Stopping for 2-3 hours of siesta time is usually our best option, although the craziest things usually happen in the pool after 5 or 6.

Remember that you can't drink all day if you don't start drinking in the morning

For me it's not how drunk you get it's how many times in one day you get drunk...it's usually at least twice if not 3 times a day...get a nice buzz going on in the morning...eat lunch....get some more buzz going...have a siesta and sober up....go for dinner...get buzzed again...go to bed. Sleep, wake up and repeat.

Id like to add that with the extra strenght Tylenol, drink as much water as you can. i also always seem to wake up bright and early thirsty and then go back to sleep so i lay a couple of tylenol bedside to take. then when i get up later i feel great !!
the trick is to remember to do it when your drunk

Advil Migraine strength is my weapon of choice...add water and maybe a gravol and you're good to go.

800 mg of ibuprofen (my tummy can tolerate it fine, some cannot) and 20 oz. of H2O right before bed. If you have some bland carb such as crackers or a hard roll from the buffet, this would be a good time to eat it. I put another bottle of water by the bed and if I wake up, I chug it, as well. As another one mentioned, the headache is from dehydration so keep I keep the water coming and I usually do not experience headaches. Unless, I do something silly, like getting carried away the first day as I did last year. Then it might take more than water to feel better.

Diana....what is gravol? You swore by chocolate milk one year and now Tom drinks that with breakfast after a night of drinking.

Yes, chocolate milk is good the morning after...gravol is an anti-nausea medicine...it tends to work as a sleep aid for me too.

For me its about a 14 hour buzz. 1 to 2 drinks an hour starting at 10am with bloody marys. The ant acid tip was a very good one. You will be drinking things that you may never back home, and not all the alcohol is user friendly. As much water as you can down befiore bed, and four advil. As far as pre-game training, YES!

I've been told that "Chasers" work amazing. I think it's a brand name. I've never had to use them. If I feel rough in the morning I just start off with a blender drink and easy my way back into the hard stuff. *L*

Lots of water is the key for us. We started drinking XX with ice and lime a couple of years ago, and love it. Not sure how much water we get out of a glass of ice cubes, but sure think it helps. The large jugs of water in the frig are lifesavers, and really help keep us hydrated. We also down a couple of glasses of water with each meal.

Does lime in our drinks count as a serving of fruit for the day :?:

I think I've figured out a non-kamikazi way of doing it (I'll be testing it out in Feb for our tentative March trip)

Buy middle of the road whiskey and absolute rot-gut vodka or rum from Walmart (1L for $9+change stuff).

Every night, take a shot of both for a month. On the weekends, add beers (multiples) to the mix and double up on the shots. with a week left, double up on the shots every day and throw in a beer or two. By the time you get there, your tolerance should be high enough that you can get through each day with a heavy buzz.

Lots of great advice here, I have been gradually working my way back into it... so hard to train when your cooped up in the house with snow flying around all the time outside.

Nothing like actually sitting outside in the hot sun and doing it, just put your head down, lean into it and go.

Keeping from getting fried is a different story, Janet had a little trouble with puppies and backside getting cooked last year so hopefully we will do a little more preventative work on that this year.

6 weeks to go!!!!

Last year in the Dominican, we started every morning off poolside with a hefty dose of coffee liqueur added to our coffee! Here's hoping they have coffee liqueur at this Blue Bay too!
