Default Respect the water when in Cabo

Just thought I would post this even though it's a 1 in a million shot. A couple from Calgary was killed when a rogue wave washed them into the ocean earlier this week.

Thank you for posting this...sad story, but can totally believe it.

At Temptation it is ALWAYS Black Flag, which is Fatal-No Swimming.

We went to Divorce Beach, just the other side of Lover's Beach...the waves were very strong, you think you are standing 50 yards from the water but then all the sudden a wave comes up and totally knocks you down, we saw no one swimming in that area, but could totally imagine someone being swept away.

This happened at Divorce beach....an area at the tip of Cabo San lucas only reachable by boat (or climbing over large rocks - the backside of lover's beach, a popular tourist spot) This area is known for very rough surf and shore breaking waves.....this is not an area like the typical beaches along the los cabos coast. The neighboring resorts on Solmar beach have large signs posted saying to stay away from the water's edge. The under tow in that area is brutal and many people are killed each year because they don't believe the signs. This area is no where near the beach that Temptation is located on...it is 30 miles away. The waves can be rough on temptations beach and the under tow is strong....but they pale in comparison to those at divorce/solmar beach.

We are heading out there next month and were hoping to get some surfing in. Anyone want to recommend a good spot? We are staying at Temptations (obviously).

This is no joke either. Mr. J4 and a buddy of Mr. J4 challenged Mother Pacific. Bad outcome. Thankfully Mother Pacific spit us out back onto the beach but for a few moments and 6-7 cuts later we crawled back to dry beach. Divorce beach should be called Widower beach!

i dont know everything just yet............but you know one thing i have in fact learned in life............

if a warning sign is posted in a crystal clear unobstructed manner in plain englsih....with symbols....circles.........arrows....... ......and x's........

chances are its been placed there for a pretty good reason

Zippers is about a 20 minute walk south of Temptations. It can be a good break depending on the time of year you go and where the swell is coming from. Check out SURFLINE.COM.

Is there anywhere nearby to rent a decent shortboard? I'm going to be driving to TJ and flying out of that airport down to cabo and really don't feel like having to deal with a surfboard in the luggage combined with a mexican airline with questionable fees for such things. I'd love to get in a bit of surfing while I'm down there though.

we saw quite a few little surf shops and huts on the way to Zippers with boards for rent...not sure how much it costs. some of the boards looked decent. Have fun!
