| we're going over labor day week in september. take notes and pics... we're dying to find out what it's like (like you, we've been to cancun twice, never to cabo). vanilla friends of ours went and they told us to buy the whale watching excursion at the marina by divorce/lover's beach. and others here have said to check the megamart across the street from temptations to negotiate other excursions. have fun!

| We've been to both many times and keep going back. The key to any trip is whoever happens to be the guests at that time. Cabo can sometimes be half empty and too quiet but when it's busy, it's a blast. It was boring last October but a great party when we went at the end of January. Cabo has a heated pool and a giant hot tub with a swim up bar open till 3 am -- hard to beat that. Cabo usually has more predictable weather - sunny and warm. Cancun has more local nightflife and Chinos, the legendary entertainment guy. Probably a few more single people too. Busy year round. But no hot tub at all. Those things you see in the pictures of the pool are just places to sit with bubbles. Until it warms up some more, the pool can be too cold and then the sociability factor goes down when people are "around" the pool rather than in it. Storms can be unpredictable and frequent in Cancun and the staff doesn't do much to keep it fun for anybody if it rains. This time of year it shouldn't be too bad. Your distance to fly to one or other might matter. We are only a 90 minute flight away so Cabo is plainly an easier weekend jaunt than the 3 hours and 40 minutes it takes to get to Cancun. Have a "nobody knows you and nobody gives a sh-t attitude" and you will have a great time either place! |

| I am really disappointed to hear that the Cancun pool is so cool. I am a big swimmer and I can't recollect if it was cold when I was at TTR in 04, in fact it had to be warm or I wouldn't have spent so much time in the pool. I usually go anywhere south in April, would that make a difference? I would hate to never go back to TTR Cancun knowing I would freeze in the water but that has a big influence on what resort I choose. Cabo had beautiful water and the hot tub is the best ever....big, social, great view of the ocean and the whales. Worth going to.
