Default Los Cabos trip report

I am going to try this again, third attempt here, so if I screw it up again, I give up.

So this was Barb and My 7th trip to TTR Mexico, 5 to Cancun and 2 to Cabos. This ranks up at or near the top of all of our other vacations. The biggest contributor to that is meeting and hanging out with the wonderful people that we got to spend so much of our time with.

I am going to start with our privately chartered booze cruise that Rob arranged on the Wednesday night, I will start here because all of the people on it contributed so much to our vacation being as great as it was.

Harold and Bobby whom we shared the entire trip with from a mimosa at their house before the trip began to the ride home at the end of the vacation, thank you so much for making the trip what it was. Rob and T, Poppy and Lisa, (Poppy was my "brother from a different mother" all week, in fact we had a few people comment that we must be related), Jill, Paul and Heather, Rick and Faye, Mike and Marnel, Brian and Teresa whom on a milestone anniversary (their 10th), spent it with us, all of these people have been active members of this board and it was so great as we had pre-met or chatted so much leading up to this vacation. Then there was Danny and Christina, Dave and Jen, Stuart and Sondra and Chad and Stacey, the 25 of us had a great time on the cruise.

"Two Brother's from a different Mother"

Starting from the marina we went out to the famous arch and then past the biggest yacht I have ever seen, out into the water where the sea of Cotez ends and the Pacific Ocean begins. We spent 2-3 hours out there enjoying the evening, having a few drinks, dancing and looking at the fabulous views provided by Los Cabos. When we came back to shore we headed into Cabos Wabos, we did some dancing and hanging out there before we began to separate, some of us headed back while others went to Squid Roe.

The Famous Arch

Huge Yacht

I have digressed here however, but mainly to throw a Hello and Thank you out to so many of you that contributed so much to our vacation. I digressed because this all happened on Wednesday, but by no means was it the beginning or end of the trip.

On Sunday we were at Ediths restaurant, once again Rob had prearranged this, reservations at the restaurant and transportaion from the hotel to the restaurant. Barb and I shared a meal of lobster, shrimp and steak, we also shared in the ambiance and laughs and good times of new friends. We were enjoying this so much that the table behind us of complete strangers were taking pictures and laughing with us.

Dinner at Edith's

view from outside Edith's

Most of the week we just hung out by the pool in the morning, went up to the Hot Tub in the early afternoon and tried to make it up at night time, we had mixed success making it up in the evening. We went body surfing in the ocean a couple of times, never went out to far however. One evening Barb and I went into San Jose Del Cabo, we had missed going in with the entire group, but enjoyed ourselves as it was, having another steak and lobster dinner and just wandering around.

This covers most of the vacation, a few other people that we met that contributed to it with apologies in advance if I have forgotten your names, were Amy and Kerry, Greg and his wife, Tommy, Matt and Christine and their friends, just a fabulous group of people all around.

I want to give a personal thank you to Rob and T. They are an absolutely wonderful couple. Rob started arranging this about a year ago, he had dinner at Edith's and transportation all booked, he arranged the private charter for the booze cruise when we realized that we would have enough. Rob recieves a lot of accolades for his contributions to this board, and they are all well deserved, but from a personal heartfelt perspective, Rob, thanks so much for the efforts and time you put into making this vacation as great as it was.

Rob and T

Finally, and most importantly I want to recognize one person who more than anyone else combined makes a vacation what it is. My wife, my life, my love, Barb. Without her in my life, no vacation could come close to matching the experiences in my life I have captured, the memories, the occassional bad times, the frequent good times, all of life's ups and downs, Barb has shared with me. Sometimes I can get a little goofy and on trips such as this one, many times it feels like we are moving at 90 miles an hour. Barb knows when to let me go and when to apply the brakes and for this I thank you.

Here's looking at us kid...

Anyone reading this, if you are ever considering Cabos, just do it, Cancun is fun, no doubt, but for a change of pace, to see a beautiful part of the world, to do as much or as little as you want, I can't emphasize enough how great this place is.

just made it home

excellent trip report bob

we absolutely loved meeting you two

its been said "we could all have a great time in a holiday inn in meridian, mississippi" but the reality is this place made it even better

as i look back over the last several years and i reflect on all the trips to blue bay/temptaion i am constantly reminded of how many wondeful people we have met but this year in los cabos may have beat all the others combined

so many great people (both cancuncare people and infidels alike)

an excellent example would be the commit/show ratio on the "all the pretty ladies" boobs cruise

25 committed and 25 showed up (albeit the last 2 had to join us in dramatic fashion of course )

i dont mean to sound too obtuse, but when i read the reports/complaints from the other resort i am reminded of the many reasons t and i decided to go to los cabos this time

i find very little if anything i can complain about temptation los cabos (trip report to follow in a few days)

the only thing i can think of where i would give cancun a SLIGHT edge over los cabos would be the games..............but t and i do not go on vacation to sit around the pool and laugh at people making fools of themselves for 15 minutes two times per day

if we wanted to do that we could just go up the street to the improv..........get a full three hours of it there............drive home afterwards..........sleep in our own bed.................and save ourselves 3000 dollars in the process

i mean really..........

as much as i enjoy chinos and the gang at cancun.............if i got to base my decision on going to cancun on him and him alone - then i need to get a fucking life

anyway bob you know me well now and have come to appreciate my little rants

all i can say is this...........

SAME TIME NEXT YEAR MY FRIEND!!!!!

please remind all to check their emails for our home address so that everyone can send their pics to us asap so we can get them back to everyone- if all will send tomorrow - i will commit to having them back out by next monday

bob and barb

That's fabulous, lol, that is actually what I was going to name my trip report.

"Uh oh oh, ALL the pretty ladies, all the pretty ladies, ALL the pretty ladies"

(to the tune of singles ladies put a ring on it.)

Thanks for the great information and pictures. We took a family vacation just a few resorts away from Desire/TTR a few years ago, I do not think that we even saw 4 clouds.

It appears that all had a great time. If a cancuncare group make plans for next year, we will give it strong consideration. Thanks again for the reports.

it was by far.........even with the delay getting home and having to stay in houston...............our best vacation ever. i am looking forward to writing our trip report on the entire vacation in the morning....... and i will stop just short of saying that t and i have made our last trip to cancun..........as you never know what might happen

but for us there is not even a decision to be made in this regard - not even a slight question or hint at reservation about it - we will book our return trip to cabo for what we are calling the "same time next year" trip within the next couple of months

to each their own when they select a vacation spot - people have a wide variety of interests and what makes a great vacation for one does not a great vacation make for all - thats why there are so many vacation options out there

people see things differently and experience life differently

but for us........and pretty much everyone we met there (cancuncare people/cancuncare wannabeeez & infidels)

next year its same bat channel same bat time

look forward to you guys considering joining us there next april

would be a pleasure

Rob,

This is exactly how we feel after returning home from cabo!

"....... and i will stop just short of saying that t and i have made our last trip to cancun..........as you never know what might happen."

Cancun is a blast, Cabo is a gem.

joe

had very high expectations going in and when that happens i typically have a major let down - but this place exceeded even my highest expectations.

granted i know it has a lot has to do with the incredible people we went with and met there but at this point in my life i have to come to the realization that to have great fun with great people - it does not hurt to also have a large number of other factors which contribute.

i always say if you are going to have a great time or a great party then put as many things as you can in place to enourage and atmosphere that will allow that to happen

i feel as though temptation los cabos does a great job of putting things in place to allow it all to come together

Heather here posting on Paul's log-on . . . I could swear it was "All the Pretty Girls" but maybe I'm having a Cabo hangover already and we've been home less than 24 hours.

"All the pretty girls . . . party with a purpose."

But Rob the crucial question is did you recruit enough Canadians for the volleyball match on the rooftop in the bayoo ?

Default Wow, where do we start???

Christina and I have lived in so many places, including the Mayan Riviera that it was tough to decide where to have a late winter/early spring vacation. We're so happy we chose the sweet little gem called Temptation Cabo!!!
The following is how a week of FUN unfolds, develops and wraps up...

We arrived late on Thursday, got the quick tour, had a snack, drinks at the Disco and eventually closed the hot tub with other hot couples.... not a bad first few hours.

Day 2 started at the pool, many drinks, met great people, had an AMAZING dinner at the restaurant, quick change then off to an awesome party at the hot tub... once again, closed the hot tub with other hot couples... I see a sexy pattern developing

Day 3 had Christina feeling ill the entire day, however I can't close off day 3 without mentioning the care Christina got from the amazing Temptation staff.

Day 4 had Christina still feeling a bit down, but she was a trooper and sucked it up in honor of pool side bevies, great company and great fun. Once again, closed the hot tub but not before Christina got to meet one very special lady... I need not go any further

Day 5 was a lazy one, late getting up... but hey, we were on vacation right??? Took the bus into Cabo San Lucas for a day visit and had an overall fabulous day with my most amazing wife. After a siesta we enjoyed karaoke at the Disco, then of course we helped close the hot tub.

Day 6 had us falling into routine once again, however the drink of choice for the day was champagne and orange juice. Met a fabulous couple, Dave and Jen, made plans to attend a booze cruise the next day... keep reading as Day 7 is a keeper! Attended Fetish Night which was pretty darn interesting... then of course... closed the hot tub.

Day 7.... Fasten your seat belt! We knew it would be best to sleep in a bit as these old bodies were going to need any help we could muster up. Little bit of "priming" at pool side then off to get ready to be cruizin' and a boozin'. Jumped a bus and met the gang at the marina, boarded the boat at 6 PM....CENSORSHIP REQUIRED HERE FOR 2+ HOURS...got back to the marina, then the short walk to Cabo Wabo for drinks... not without stopping for the best tacos ever (I think they were tacos, pretty drunk out at that point), group gathered at Cabo Wabo, many drinks had by all and then we ended up at El Squid Row (Space ship may have dropped us off there as nobody remembers how we got there...LOL), more drinks, cab ride back to the resort.... then of course... CLOSED THE HOT TUB!

A special thank you out to Rob and Tanya for their hard work organizing the BOOZE CRUISE, along with a special thank you to the new friends we made. We're looking forward to seeing you all again next year, if not by the pool... you can find us between 1:00 - 3:00 AM at the hot tub!

Play hard, play safe...

brad

the question is will the hotel allow us to get even more rooms as the present extended allotment of 75 rooms is clearly not going to be enough tot hold everyone at the pace we are booking rooms

with the saints schedule now out and them in town against the colts that weekend i am very worried that they will not extend the allotment any more - as they can now sell those rooms easily for triple the price they have given us (this hotel sells out months in advance during football season when new orleans has home games)

pretty much everyone who went to cabo is going to to end up joining us in new orleans for the reunion. i know paul and heather said they would probably not be able to make it...... but out of the group of 30 some odd people pretty much everyone else said they are going to make it (plus bring a lot of their friends too - some people as many as ten additional people)

i am hoping we can not only do a canadian vs american roof top water volleyball game on the roof top but more importantly a cabonian vs cancun one as well

there are a large number of people going the first week in may who committed early and the ball is in their (tmac/kats, paul/liz, james/leeann, melissa/rons, les/lynfas, beck/cliffs) court now as they go to cancun next week to round up a team worthy of competing against this cabonian juggernaut of a team which has been established and is ready for the big cabo vs cancun match in the rooftop heated swimming pool in new orleans

if they want to go they better start booking as the rooms are all going to be gone very soon at the pace they are being taken

rob

Bob

If you don’t mind im just going to piggy back on what you have said.

Im not going to spend much time really comparing the two resorts as most people can gather that we (like b&b) clearly favor temptation los cabos over temptation cancun so with that as a given ill do an overall tally and give you a score for mine and t’s experience

Again, we understand that all people experience things differently so keep this in mind as you look at how we rated things J our ratings are the way we experienced and viewed things and everyone does not see things the same way - we certainly understand and appreciate this fact J

Ill try and cover topics and rate them from 1 to 10 (with one being least favorable and 10 most favorable)

Again I am looking at the whole experience

Arrival/Transportation

american airlines departed dfw on time and arrived in san jose del cabo 10 minutes early and then 15 minutes from wheels down to wheels on the bus going round and round towards temptation -

when t and I are on vacation we are on vacation and don’t care to spend tons of our precious vacation time dicking around with customs, long lines and baggage claim issues - again 15 minutes J - and oh yeah it was an international flight and we had to fight through a herd of time shares stalkers and we still made it to the bus in just 15 MINUTES!!!

Our expedia package included transfer service and the service we had was with grayline tours

Rating 10

People

the people you vacation with are a large part of the success and as far as I am concerned I could write a book of a trip report just on the awesome people we met and hung out with and bob pretty much covered everyone I would have mentioned except I would add matt/christine (the dude) from cancuncare and their non cancuncare friends dancing dave and his wife as well as non cancuncare member richard, his brother and their friend gary. should also mention tommy bahama the surfer

If I missed anyone else im sorry I suck

I (like bob) give special attention to my incredible wife Tonya - you are the most beautiful person I have ever met and thank you so much for putting up with me being a bitch - you deserve better than me and i am grateful you tolerate all of my ocd tendancies

For all the great people on the trip - I must also add the ones that were not so good in order to be fair and unbiased in my tr

There were a couple of losers who made life miserable (but for only a brief period of time in each case).

One was a Methuselah/cruella devil hybrid of an old bag who basically had all the trappings of the horned evil one………. sans the codex giggas

one day she approached lisa out of the blue to tell her that she needed to only eat two meals per day and proceeded to make lisa cry and put a damper on the day to some extent for most of us……….but we all pulled together and told her to mind her own business and stay away from us…………..some people just suck - that’s the way it is

The other loser was a guy who felt the need to get drunk and try and pick up on the ladies. Finally sonda stepped up and asked him politely to leave the girls alone and from that point on he did

And of course there were your token inappropriate swinger couples that always seem to be on a self imposed mission to give swingers a really bad name.

Just a note to those types (not all swingers - just the swinger Nazis here k?) if you want to find a couple with whom you would like to swing with try and show a little bit more tact - makes you look miserable, tacky and desperate when all you want to talk about in the first five minutes of a conversation is how you would like to bang my wife.

Hello? who wouldn’t?

Its not like you just cracked an ancient code or something here

Please don’t get me wrong im perfectly fine with the compliment. so is t for that matter……..in fact she is flattered…………got it……….but for crying out loud could you at the very least put some water into the swimming pool before diving in off the 75 foot tall platform butt ass naked?

ya know???

perhaps a conversation about your life or the weather or your favorite football team or some of your hobbies ?????

it was maily couples there a few single guys but also was shocked at how many singles girls were there

Rating 8 (only because of those 2 and a few random swinger Nazis - not because of anyone in our immediate group of 30 to 40)

Excursions

Dinner at ediths - incredible as always but slightly over priced. Once every six years is worth it. Would I go back next year? Probably would like to try a new place or two next april like sunset da mona lisa and/or manuels in san jose del cabo

Rating 8

Fishing excursion

brian, st. poppy and I went out with gordo banks panga and although we only caught four we had a lot of activity up until about 10 a.m. and then it went dead and we wasted a ton of time. Did get to see two huge hump back whales while we are fishing and we ended up having the chef at temptation prepare an incredible meal for 8 of us on that night but would probably only want to fish for about four hours instead of 6 to 8 next time

Rating 6

The “no HO barred” cabo san lucas “unofficial” Cancuncare boobs cruise

We made arrangements with a local company to charter a boat out and 25 of us went out for about two and half hours and had a blast - the boat was very nice and it had a stripper pole installed on the main deck (huge flat dance platform area) and all the pretty ladies loved it - there was tons of room on the boat - guys and girls restrooms great music of course with all you can drink and sandwiches and all for a very reasonable rate

Next year we may look at trying to get them to pick us up in san jose del cabo and do an entire afternoon cruise down to cabo san lucas and then catch transportation back to the resort that afternoon

Rating 9

Cabo wabo/el squid roe pub crawl

The resort had made arrangments to do a Wednesday night pub crawl in cabo san lucas so we decided to try and meet up with them at about 10 (after we completed the booze cruise) well the pub crawl did not pan out as they had hoped and long story short the night did not go exceptionally well. cabo wabo has never been my favorite place and their pretentious service just gets under my skin too much. Squid roe was just not going on that well either so several of us pulled out and just came back to the resort (after finding a late night local taco shack)

I do think this pub crawl thing is a good idea for the resort though and I spoke with ceasar, brian and crystal (entertainment staff) at length about doing them (as we all know I know everything about everything and I have organized large numbers of large pub crawls over the years)

Going to be talking more with them and hoping to make arrangements next year for something either similar or more along the lines of what they do in cancun where you have a fixed rate entry for everyone

Rating 3

San jose del cabo trek/walk

On Thursday night harrold and bobbie made arrangemtns for us to do a walking tour along the beach to downtown san jose del cabo. Harold and bobby were awesome hosts and provided tequila shots about half way through the walk for everyone to enjoy. We did some shopping, had some beers at shooters and then had a magnificent dinner at a very nice open air courtyard restaurant where we all toasted brian and theresas 10 year anniversary with great food and traditional Mexican music

Rating 8

Massage on the beach (shack just down from the resort)

Okay 35 usd for an hour long massage on the beach with the waves crashing - what a steal right? No doubt about it guys - would highly recommend

Rating 9

Zippers for departure drinks
About two hours before we got ready to leave we went down to zippers to watch the surfers and get a few drinks and was so glad we did - this place is about a 45 minute walk down the beach and they play music in the afternoons and you are sitting right on the beach - food was not too bad either - the margaritas were strong J

Rating 7

Departure

We left on time via american airlines and was scheduled to arrive 15 minutes early but was told that we were in a holding pattern and we stayed in a holding patter until about 8 and then we were told that we would have to go to Houston and refuel - long story but we did not get home until Monday about 11 as we had to spend the night in houston

Rating 1 - ill give it a one simply because we did not have a plane crash

FOOD

Was typical ai fare nothing special but more than adequate I talked with several people about which place had the best food cancun or cabo

The selection is much better in cancun than cabo but I favored the food a little bit more in cabo - comments from others were 50 percent liked cancun more 50 percent liked cabo better

There is not great difference between the two in my opinion - its not like anyone could realistically say one sucked and one was great

Rating 6

ROOMS
We felt the room to be more than adequate and I will refrain from comparing here as I used my one comparison above with the food J

Rating 7

Grounds

The ground were incredible and the resort also has a nice beach however you really cant swim in it but since that is not a big deal for us - was not an issue

Rating 9

Weather

Perfect - t and I loved the fact that in the evenings we could be out and not sweat to death - I hate sweating at the dinner table or any time when I am sitting trying to relax - in fact, we did not sweat hardly any the entire trip and we counted four clouds all week - beautiful visible stars each night - incredible mild evenings - warm sun filled days -

Rating 10+

Games/Daytime entertainment

Again I don’t go to resorts for the games - I go for the overall experience - and in my opinion, the games were more than adequate for us and the resort was full and their was full participation in many events - we played tequila water volleyball, strip pole dance lessons, beach volleyball, beer drinking contests, trivia, and much much more

I don’t want the games taking away from my time with my friends and people I am talking with - at this resort the games work perfectly for that type of setting

the games here add to the conversation and dotn take away from it

Rating 9

Nightime entertainment/activities

They do a theme night every single night - however not everyone participates - nevertheless it was pretty cool that they did this
We did not go to the hot tub that much at night (we did every afternoon at 3 though for a birthday party or an anniversary party)

T and I loved the night time entertainment and social time here as they hold a lot of the nightly activities outside and you can talk and enjoy the evening without sweating like a stuck pig all night long - just lovely evenings at this place!!!!!

If you go there make sure he is assigned to take care of you - he made us feel like we were the only people at the resort - whatever we needed……….from making sure the chef prepared our fish correctly to lining up taxis and focusing on our every need - he was perfect

Other

The mega store is located just across the street in case you need to get anything and they pretty much have everything you could ever want - they even had liter bottles of the big blue dick - even brought a bottle home with us J

Its very nice to have this convenience and certainly added to the overall vacation value

the clientele seemed much more our age than other resorts we have been too - yes all ages were there but there was a more mature vibe here and even though there was plenty of party time there was just a more mature sophistication to it than i expected..........not as much of a frat party vibe..........which was really cool...........but dont get me wrong body shots flowed.........t was even having such a good time that she let me do a body shot of a woman (first time that has ever happened)

Rating 8

Again all in all a great vacation - the best ever

A perfect 10 ? Maybe not but pretty damn close

Already making plans for same time next year J

Sounds like we missed a great party. We were their end of april for 10 days and had a great time. Lots of drinks and made a ton of new friends. We found this site when we were looking for first hand reviews and got some great feed back so we booked. Was a little suprized when we got thier that no one we met had heard or cancuncare since it is one of the frist sites that comes up and is the best info we found. looking to book again for next year let us know when you are planning for next year so we don't miss out.

will do - look for the thread "same time next year" coming soon

talked at length with management about a cancuncare week and hoping that steve and janet can make it too since they offer this incredible forum about the resort to all of us

i know its difficult for them to get away..........but think they deserve a vacation too and would be great for them to get to see the resort as well since they have this site

besides for many years he has organized some incredible booze cruises and im sure he and janet would love to have one where they could just sit back and enjoy it the way all of us have enjoyed the ones they have put on for all of us over the years

dates tbd soon

Hey Diamodheaded,

I think you should do a comparison of the rooms between Los Cabos and Cancun. Sherry and I are thinking about heading to Temptation Los Cabos for our next trip to Mexico to try something different without going too different.

Thanks,
Darren

darren i may defer to bob on this one as he has been twice to cabo and five times to cancun and might provide a better perspective

our friends (ace1) ron/melissa were also there and would be able to give yet another perspective also as they have been to both cabo/cancun seem to favor cancun more

i have not read a trip report from friends joe (j4) and bart and annette and would certainly seek their opinion as well.....

before spending a ton of money on a trip i like to look at all reviews - not just the ones i hope to read..........so i would strongly suggest that you read ron and melissas tr from last summer in this forum as well as ron, mellisa, joe and bart and annette are high quality top notch people who may or may not see it exactly the way we did

regarless i value their opions highly

ROOMS

the rooms were fairly similar - i would give the edge to cabo as cancun is a slightly older establishment and the rennovations after the blue bay days were not done as well as i would have thought and the mildew smell because of the humidity in cancun -makes me favor the rooms in cabo -

t and i are getting one of the jacuzzi suites next april as they look incredible.

if you are wanting something different but not too different this is just what the dr. ordered

more of a west coast vibe but still all the sexy spice - ill have some pictures up on flickr soon for all

the best

rob

My perspective on the rooms and their differences, I didn't have a complaint against either place. Usually when I go to bed it is for some lovin or some sleepin, both places work well for that. The beds are huge and they are comfortable in both places. The one thing about the rooms in Cabo that I thought was real cool was the showers, it is not a diagonal shower head but a vertical shower head, if that makes sense. The water comes straight down from above you, so adjusting the pressure changes the water from a sprinkle to a rainfall, but it doesn't mean you have to move closer or further. Also, by the end of the week if you are sunburned, you can have a shower without being hit by pins and needles.

The difference would be and I believe Rob mentioned it, the humidity, or lack of it in Cabo. Cabo is considered a desert region, and rightfully so, the brochures claim only 5 days of rainfall per year. There is no humidity and hence, there is no mildew.

The other bonus at least for Barb, is that no humidity means she can do whatever she likes with her hair, she doesn't have to worry about her curls going flat, or if she uses a flat iron, then it going curly.

excellent point and almost across the board it seems like "all the pretty ladies" are happier here because they dont have to worry with their hair so much

........and if momma aint happy - aint nobody happy

very tempted.. we have discussed the New Orleans trip but no decision yet..

something to think about for sure ... I have to say.. that lots of the repeaters have mentioned trying something different but not to different .. sounds like it could be a good fit..

I have wondered about doing a take over there with it being a smaller resort.. how much freedom do you think we would have to be as crazy as it gets at ttr in cancun?
